It's a synthetic mystery that keeps the appearance of older ones without the authentic transmission. -

Christian scholars love to exaggerate the multiplicity in early Christianity. There are multiple Gnostic Christianities in the same way there are multiple schools of Catholicism. There are internal debates ofc but at the end of the day they're all identifiable as one thing.

I get why enthusiasts or anti-Christians like it but its assumptions undermine most of the liturgy, the morals of Jesus, the classical prayers, among other things.
It comes off as local Egyptian mythos in a Christian skin suit. -

They've succeeded at keeping it more culturally esoteric, which is good, but we know the lineages of the 8 schools so we know it's going to be basically the same. -

Niggy Hardare (j@cawfee.club)'s status on Wednesday, 20-Nov-2024 03:17:33 JST Niggy Hardare @une @7666 @amerika @arcana @sun @toiletpaper Depends what he means by democratization.
Christianity mostly can't be esoteric because one of the central tenants of the faith is one visible Body of Christ (communion of churches) so every bishop has to check every other bishop.
It's too centralized for anything hidden to be confirmed at scale, and if it ceases to be centralized, there has to be a hard fork that simply creates two exoteric traditions.
This is one reason (of several) that Christian Gnoticism failed. When Christian esotericism does happen it's usually in monasteries in the middle of nowhere and as soon as the broader church becomes aware of it, it gets stamped out.
For example early versions of Palamism before the synods taught 4 persons in the Godhead. -

Niggy Hardare (j@cawfee.club)'s status on Wednesday, 20-Nov-2024 03:10:08 JST Niggy Hardare @une @sun @7666 @amerika @arcana @toiletpaper There is some genuine esotericism left. In Theravada Buddhism, for example, colonialism and modernism drove their Tantric schools underground. You can't find it easily because Theravada became "Protestant" (analogously speaking) and refuses to play ball with medieval readings of the ancient sources, which is lame in a way, but it also kept the esoteric element of that tradition from becoming a commodity for mentally ill White women.
I'm sure this is also true for other traditions in China and India. -

Niggy Hardare (j@cawfee.club)'s status on Wednesday, 20-Nov-2024 02:24:57 JST Niggy Hardare @djsumdog @7666 @arcana @sun Christianity is tough because there are three contradicting stories at work in the New Testament.
"Be as Christ is; surrender your entire self to serving the bottom, and the kingdom of God will be manifested"
"God has redeemed and transfigured all extant things into Good"
"Live according to the rule of your Baptism and you will be resurrected in the future, when the current world is cast into fire."
Any particular Christian can pick which of these three they care about. 2 of them are very compatible with Gay Race Communism, one is not. Conservative Christians want some version of the third to be placed at a higher priority than the other two, but it's no clear by any means that this is orthodox, it's just the only way to salvage a tradition that has been completely broken by modern questions. -

There is no version of career life, or married life, or political life, or civilian life at all that is unambiguously good. -

It's not schizo but there are reasons I doubt it. One reason is that most fat people don't go after nutritious food, they go for empty carbs and sugars, suggesting it's more driven by an addiction to the high you get from Calorie dense foods. The obese tend to suffer from malnutrition. -

Niggy Hardare (j@cawfee.club)'s status on Tuesday, 19-Nov-2024 00:32:58 JST Niggy Hardare @sun You say that a lot but never give specifics.
I soured on NOSTR's design bc in practice the entire thing is centralized on a couple of relays that are virtually duplicates of one another. You can use alternatives but at the cost of not seeing most of the network.
It's not very decentralized and it's radically inefficient. You get portability but you lose so much more. It's inefficient to the extreme.
Hopefully something better comes along.
