@coolboymew I played this games as a kid. It was... an odd experience. The first level takes place in a prison if I remember correctly, I know there was a lunch lady boss and I think a warden boss who I could never beat as a kid. N64 had some weird shit on it, man... :an64:
@coolboymew Yeah, I used to own it in box too, I sold it and most of my N64 collection back in 2011ish to finance a PS3. I don't even want to talk about how little I got for some of those games or what they would be worth today... :depressed: Although I do still have a lot of my Gamecube games, which are apparently really expensive now too, so it is what it is.
@coolboymew Yeah, I think the original Chibi-Robo is probobly the most expensive game I own now, or that Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire Box thing that was effectively just a storage tool. Gamecube/PS2 stuff being "retro" will never stop feeling weird to me, even though I'm cognitively aware that 2005 was in fact 20 years ago, those will always be "new" consoles to me. :oldsnake:
@ooignignoktoo@coolboymew That's what I've heard, I consider that insane considering how little there is to that thing, but collectors items are seldom such due to their practical utility. I also remember seeing a copy of Twin Snakes at a game store back in the day (this was about 2009-10) for about 40 bucks which I passed on since it was a little too pricey. If only I knew... :venomsnakedemon2:
I was also low-key obsessed with Rotha Lintorn-Orman for a while, although even though she called herself one, whether she really counts as a Fascist or not is up for debate.
@xianc78@icedquinn I agree, I was always more into the Rothbard school than the Rand at my core, although I think there's value in ideas taken from both. I think there's value that can be taken from Communist, Anarchist, and even Fascist authors to an extent. You just need to make sure you don't let your ideology become too singular, and retain the critical thinking to parse the good from the bad.
@xianc78@icedquinn I can respect that. I went through a Rand phase a few years back, I stand by The Fountainhead as being a genuinely great book that functions as both a vehicle for Objectivist philosophy and a compelling story on its own. Atlas Shrugged is just too damn bloated though, I got through it, but I understand why a lot of people just can't finish it; you really need to be at least 60% with her in order to get into it, and the fact that her self-insert character is sexually irresistible to every major male character in the book is telling of the sheer size of her ego (which I think she would consider a compliment). That said, I think "the charity question," is pretty cleanly explained in AS, basically charity is only immoral if you're giving against your interests, if you're donating to a charity that will ultimately lead to a long term benefit for you in some way that's still kosh (EG: donating to a homeless shelter because having people sleeping in the streets is bad for business, so you're ultimately helping yourself by helping other people).
That's all semantics though, I agree that Objectivism and Libertarianism should be viewed as parallel, but separate ideologies.
@icedquinn Oh yeah, I can already see them. If Biden had swallowed his pride, dropped out two years ago, and they ran an actual primary they may have had a chance. Even if they just rigged it for Kamala like they rigged it for Biden in 2020 it would have looked better than having none at all.
You can't run a campaign with "I'm not the other guy, and also abortion," as the entirety of your platform and expect to win.
@coolboymew Already have it, but more people playing NiGHTS is an absolute good. It's probobly my 4th or 5th favorite game period. It also doubles as the greatest Christmas-themed game ever made.

New World IndigoJust finished Resident Evil 1 (GOG PC Version) for the first time (played REmake about... four times earlier this year). Fun game. Interesting from an archeological standpoint, but REmake is so much better in every way by an order of magnitude that playing the original in 2024 feels like playing a tech demo by comparison. Also, controversial opinion maybe, but I liked addition of the ink ribbon system in REmake; I think the level deign of Resi 1 compliments them well, and they create an interesting layer of risk/reward. *EDIT: I didn't realize when I originally wrote this that Jill's initial playthrough always has no ink ribbons on the PC version, but subsequent playthroughs do, my mistake.
I also like how Jill's best ending cutscene looks like a bit-crushed stock photo for a shopping catalog.
Okay, I finished it one more time as Chris. His good ending screen is even better, it looks like one of those sample photos they put in picture frames when you buy them new.
@moth_ball I betcha it's going to be called "The Elder Scrolls VI: Tamriel." This is why they've waited to confirm the name/setting so long, they're gonna sell it on the premise of exploring every province when in reality it's just Starfield again where there's just a handful of handcrafted environments and the rest is a combination of copypasta and procedural generation. And it's gonna suck. Bad. I can't wait for the salt. :todd:
@Humpleupagus I'm one of those people who likes playing games on original hardware whenever I can; provided said hardware is functional, available domestically in the US, and not exorbitantly overpriced. But it is nice to know that's an option if I don't get to it before that point.
