IT FINALLY HAPPENED !!!!!!!

YouTube has just now, in the last 10 minutes, started to refuse to play videos on my systems with UBlockOrigin installed and active.

@dever just straight up yt-dlp (and ffmpeg) on Windows for now.

I don't think a pi-hole would work with YouTube. I tried such blocking a long time ago.

UBlockOrigin only works (worked) because it does magic at the "web request" level, inside the javascript engine, and in the context of the page.

@dever cannot tolerate the ads. they are SO BAD.

how can they possibly make them worse than the ads on regular TV ??

@dever I noticed the same thing. But I'm sure they are testing things. Because things worked fine when I disabled UBlockOrigin for the page and refreshed.

But that was ten minutes ago.

Now things are working again.

But it is only a matter of time before they drop the hammer. So I'm going to go ahead and get all my casual YouTube watching machines up and running with yt-dlp.exe

Otherwise, I won't be able to fight my insomnia.

I can just sip videos from them with a human like behavior.

I could dedicate an entire machine to "watch" videos for me 21 hours a day.
