@KeepTakingTheSoma @hearthmoon We have a long history of a certain state board with a large market base fighting to make education righteous and conservative. Started with fights over evolution, and then spread its wings.
Couple that with some recent liberal initiatives, you can see why we're in a real mess.

@hearthmoon Not exclusively.
Been telling people for a while now, high school and college social history textbooks go into depth about the cultural shifts of the 60's/70's. They discuss racism, the war, etc at lenghth, but when it comes to feminism, it's limited, usually a discussion of he said/she said rape accusations.
People are taught discriminating on the basis of race is a real thing but discriminating on the basis of sex is just made up.
You have to look to certain state boards which censor textbooks for that (and they don't lean to the left).
POMO was favored by CIA tho, because it destroyed other philosophies. It sounds reasonable, until it's applied.

@FeartnTired Look at the views, not the RTs.
He's boosting his own posts, along with the GOP.
I have a fairly eclectic bipartisan X set up, with mutes and lists, I don't follow a party line but I do RT liberal themes, and I find "trends for you" and "posts for you" always leaning RW.

@taylan @FeartnTired A lot of it is bot driven, and quite a few people have suggested most of the bots are Elon's own.

@KeepTakingTheSoma @ChasingWaterfalls @LadyMont @jmakesart What does it do with those emails tho? Write a report about those emails no one reads?
Removing employees from the actual work makes it easier for companies to market debt which is the business far too any of them are in these days.

@quasi It's a Fox News phenom. Started about 10, 15 years ago.
I grew up saying "Happy Holidays". It's a really silly thing to get mad about.

@LoriQuaid @KeepTakingTheSoma And how does that change with direct elections?
Besides, you know, the whole eliminating the old, corrupt state official crony appointments, how do the people electing a senator change regional representation?
The state is also elected by the people. The 14th Amendment is supposed to guarantee that. The state has no business other than the people.

@LoriQuaid @KeepTakingTheSoma Plaything of the people who elect them directly.
"States rights" is a fool's game.
California has 30 million people. It has 2 senators. Wyoming has a half million. It has 2 senators.
Regional differences for low population areas are adequately are represented in in the Senate.

@LoriQuaid @KeepTakingTheSoma Yes, there is a ton of money in senatorial elections. There is also a ton of money in cronyism for a select few.
Reforming campaign finance will address the first issue. The second, not so much.

@KeepTakingTheSoma @LoriQuaid Yes. They should make you suspicious. Especially when they promote such flagrant lies as "bot driven facts are truth."
I started as a ban all parties person. A prof told me off early on. Yeah, it's a bout bit about "teams", but it's more about collective action. I'm still convinced she was right.
I'm still left of center, but the center keeps moving.

@KeepTakingTheSoma @LoriQuaid If those politicians wouldn't complain, they should.
Cit United makes it impossible to cap donations here, and subsidiaries of foreign corporations is one of the ways a noncitizen can funnel money into our campaigns. Elon has already shown he's willing to destroy democracy, free speech, the electoral process, "to save it"; I don't think this is an overreach.
(I don't think banning corporate donations is such a bad idea. I'm all in favor of it.)

@taylan They are, now.
Republicans against Trump are talking like this, now.
Bernie helped us get to this place; when Hillary was talking about reversing Cit United, Bernie was screaming about Hillary taking corporate donations, splitting the electorate and helping Trump win.

@taylan I don't think he read feminists. I think he was a man who understood that there is a problem with being "modern" if women were subjugated by 14th century law.
IOW, he wanted a western standard of living. He didn't use western methods to get there.
Maybe I'm cynical, but the colonial world received a major shakeup post WWI, and all of the colonial powers took it in different ways.

@KeepTakingTheSoma Ooooh!!
I love the desert this time of year. Are you planning a aerial tramway trip? The tree should be all decorated and lit, and there should be snow! (Snow is a treat for Californians).
