Especially given that HHS named itself, where #CDC names a branch of a division and a repository database, while evading naming themselves.

Disinclined to analogize apartheid state in question with 1940s Europe, as manifest destiny settler colonialism goes further back than that, and the German lawyers modeled their approach on the breaking of treaties with indigenous peoples, Jim Crow, and Progressives' eugenics of then contemporary U.S., but otherwise, yeah.

Biggest fear is that a 47 might follow lead of a right-wing populist elsewhere (and/or a right-wing populist elsewhere might be inspired by 47 in Oval), who's done the math to realize that rather than tamp down antisemitism with jingoist Islamaphobia, the tides of global public opinion have turned sufficiently to make it politically advantageous to instead unleash that antisemitism full force.

At which point, we go from weapons sales to Israel to weapons deployed against Israel.

Not so sure about that.

A 47 can mean countries presently sitting on their hands getting actively involved just to perform on the world stage their opposition to the color orange.

Meanwhile, a 47 might readily halt arms shipments if he believes it will energize his base as a demonstration that he's the one in charge, not them.

White liberals (including those vehemently in support of Israel now) will get far more aggressive in their disruptive direct action, again cause orange.

One need not invoke 1940s Europe to discuss contemporary fascism.

Indeed, to do so only serves to alienate those sympathetic to cause for liberation, while at same time ceding ammunition to one's opponents, even as it empowers fascists of another ilk.

Today's fascism is not the fascism of WWII. Its ethnocolonial roots predate those events by decades and its geopolitical dimensions transcend that moment in history by ideology.

Conflating today with yesterday only ensures we learn from neither.

Who remembers the 2020 primaries?

I mean yeah, twas four years ago, so fact that history is such a damnable challenge for most Usians gonna be a thing. But try 'n think back anyways.

The reason we got Vibe'n as Democratic nominee was that so many of that party assumed that he was the only candidate their peers would vote for.

Strategic voting based on the presumed ignorance of other Usians is how we got into this mess.

Using a lever to lock in injustice is abdication.

But the whole idea that using a lever of power, in and of itself, is good: this is the insidious line.

Society is full of folk using levers of power at the behest of power.

Is how the trains kept running on their way to the camps.

Operating the machine that is killing folk in the name of protecting other folk from their discomfort at being ignorant of how they, like you, are complicit in the killing… Is. Not. Virtuous.

This is anti-CRT argument: don't teach history, it'd make white kids sad.

This is just another bad take on the trolley problem, which ironically speaks to unfamiliarity with that history:

If the problem is that many Americans feel insecure about how little they know, how exactly does advocating for choice that affirms their ignorance help anyone?

To be clear, this question is not meant as a liberal exhortation to educate folk. The problem isn't ignorance, it's insecurity.

That insecurity about one's ignorance: that's the problem to tackle.

We'll not fix any of this for citing to the problem as our justification for doubling down on making things worse.

The problem is... Right. There.

Focus on the problem.

Enough of the distractions.

To put it more bluntly, let's stop with the least-common denominator politics of overconfident mediocre white men.

They ain't need their levers pulled any more. Let them stroke their own engines.

We've got serious work to do. It's us against the machine and its levers and its switches. The politics of picking your opponent ain't gonna get that work done:

Foreign policy, foreign schmolecy. Call is coming from inside the white man's house. Problem is whiteness.

If the problem is that folk are insecure in their ignorance, if the problem is that folk are unprepared to process tough emotions, then the solution is to work on fostering emotional resiliency.

Forget force-feeding facts to folk. Put away appeals to certainty of logic.

Teach self-empathy. Model sitting uncomfortably with doubt. Develop strategies for public acts of collective #mourning.
