Wishing I lived in a world where air quality upgrades were handed out to schools with the same sense of urgency as military-grade weapons to university police forces
@tillshadeisgone Some people have also forgotten that disproportionate violence against trans femmes is against *Black and other POC* trans femmes. Decrying threats against trans women while ignoring race makes no sense
(I know you absolutely know this, so not directed your way--but it's been absent in too much discourse I've seen)
Y'all I saw something actually even worse than a Cybertruck today. I had to look it up. Described as "luxury meets military" and it starts at $285K. ("Rezvani Vengeance")
8124 @ mastodon social is a genocide denier who searches terms and hashtags to harass people who say isra3l is committing war crimes, as in this morally indefensible reply: https://mastodon.social/@8124/112944337788742514
Here’s another one. It’s up to my head! I’m a taller-than-average adult human. No way I come out of an encounter alive—and they probably don’t even see me at all
If you give 1st-time homebuyers $25K towards purchase, you will simply inflate prices $25K. If you regulate the housing industry, you will be able to house people affordably.
Guess which one of these ideas is preferred by landlords, real estate, etc?
I'd prefer it if covid-conscious and higher-risk people could also go to entertainment and recreational spots more safely, but it's absolutely reprehensible that *health care* and *transportation* are on this list too.
@darius@rose_alibi ISTFG in my work email, if I use an uppercase B, Outlook changes it to an emoji of a guy wearing sunglasses and I have to backspace and retype to override.
"It’s not that they want Trump to win; it’s that the level of political cynicism they are being asked to adopt feels unbearable
These voters are not choosing between Harris and Trump. They are choosing between their sense of themselves as moral beings if they vote for #Harris and their sense of themselves if [do not]
If they vote for Harris in November, what will that say to the people of #Gaza — that they’d held their noses while people died?"
@textualdeviance Thanks for this reply. I really appreciated everything you had to say, because it wasn’t condescending at all, added a lot to the conversation, and we needed to hear it.
ETA: Ofc they blocked me for being snotty. Ofc, I *was* being snotty. But man oh man, the gall of reflexively lecturing M Gessen via my mentions about the imperfect politics here. I bet they did not look at the column, which is very thoughtful! 🥱
@mybarkingdogs Me neither. Also no one who vote shames bothers to factor in the EC. I could vote or not vote for whomever all day long, as could you. What I do or don't do also doesn't affect vote suppression in TX or GA. A lot of people here jsut want to punch left without engaging the issues at hand, and they project things onto me.
