@dalias A few years back I read a really long Reddit thread from a former Tesla engineer. I’m sure I won’t be able to find it now…
But it was full of horror stories like an an anonymous FTP server that hosted the car’s firmware and totally unauthenticated OTA updates that’d brick vehicles, etc etc etc…

OK, this Help Net Security article on #opensource security tools is pretty good.
I usually cringe at articles like this, that invariably trot out the ‘ole standbys like Wireshark, Tor, Nmap, and ClamAV… but this list is actually pretty fresh and helpful. Give it a look.

"Until now, the only known cure for sickle cell disease was a bone marrow transplant from a donor, which carries the risk of rejection by the immune system, in addition to the difficult process of finding a matching donor."
"[This new treatment] removes the need for a donor. Using CRISPR, it edits the DNA found in a patient’s stem cells to remove the gene that causes the disease."

OMG if this is true, it's HUGE!!!
HOWEVER, the price of treatment is in-freakin-sane. Normal people can't afford it.
