I could use AI to edit my podcasts. As well as the ethics, the reason I don't is because it wouldn't save me any time. I'd still have to go through and check everything, and fix the small mistakes it made.
People who say AI saves them time at work (coding for example) must not be thoroughly checking the output and fixing the small mistakes. Or maybe I'm missing something here. 🤷♂️
@killyourfm because the people sitting around watching YouTube videos can click tracked links to the sponsor much more easily than the people listening to podcasts while they drive to work where they earn money that they can spend on the advertised products and services which they search for when they remember to check them out.
No click means no entry in the spreadsheet, which means no dollars in the budget.
@killyourfm I think we talked about this when we recorded together just before Christmas but this is one of the many reasons why I don't do YouTube videos. The download numbers on the LNL Family podcasts are really consistent. Rarely more than 10 or 15 percent up or down, and gradually growing over time.
But I've been releasing episodes like clockwork on a set schedule for years. The YouTube algorithm *can* bless you with viral hits, but my winning formula is rather dull. Just gotta grind. 🤷♂️
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Windows, is in fact, Copilot/Windows, or as I've recently taken to calling it, CopilotOS.
Sometimes I take my job for granted, but tonight as people all over the western world dread going back to work tomorrow I'm so grateful that I don't feel that these days. Don't get me wrong - preparing, recording, and editing podcasts is definitely work. But I don't dread it at all.
My lack of dread tonight is thanks to everyone who listens, and more importantly everyone who supports @latenightlinux on Patreon etc. So thanks! Here's to another year of talking to my friends about computers! ❤️
@killyourfm@WelcomeHome we could have a chat about it if you like. Maybe even record it. A sort of "how to even start thinking about putting a NAS together thing". Then you could make some decisions and actually put it together in future content.
Head of the Late Night Linux Family of podcasts https://latenightlinux.com/about/@latenightlinuxI mostly get paid to talk to my friends about computers which is nice.It seems I was radicalised by basic decency. 🤷♂️
