My #Ubuntu desktop in October 2008. The desktop dock is AWN (Avant Window Navigator) - I still use Firefox, Rhythmbox, VLC and GNOME Terminal. Seeing Second Life and Picasa there takes me back! Modern handling shows a 'wait or force quit' dialog when apps hang.
