@are0h it's 100% this. almost every clown I talk to that has a problem with #TheBadSpace has never actually looked at what you do and how you're doing it, they just go with whatever their dipshit racist friends told them.

@emilygorcenski every time someone makes over-exaggerated claims about these technologies is problematic. the only difference is how aggressively it's been marketed as "AI" and how quickly people seem to be going along with it. would you rather people not push back at all?

it wasn't called AI when IBM made a computer programmed with chess data that could beat Gary Kasparov.

it wasn't called AI when DeepDream was generating psychedelic pictures from scaped web content.

it wasn't called AI when machine learning was using if statements and statistical analysis to figure out exactly how much labor could be squeezed out of an Amazon worker

so why are people now calling these technologies Artificial Intelligence, after the briefest of media blitzes?

why do you let rich people appropriate culture and quite literally dictate terms to you?
