Today I made another step on the way to a Google free life.

I've flashed /e/OS on my new Fairphone 4, and since I already used few Google apps, it hasn't been very difficult to migrate everything.

In the process I also tried PostmarketOS and Ubuntu Touch, but too many of my need-to-haves simply weren't there.

While I would have preferred a Linux system on my phone, the main objective was to degoogle.

@zwol M4 always was horrible, and I say that as the original author of GNU M4.

The original Unix M4 was weird, and there weren't really any good explanations for why it was the way it was. Apparently someone at Bell labs needed a preprocessor and wrote M4, sometimes in the '70, for no other greater purpose than to scratch a personally itch.

GNU M4 only exists because RMS wanted GNU to have what Unix had, and while I wanted to do something different and better, RMS convinced me to do M4 first.

@joeo10 The software is open source, so they don't own it.

I use it, I've contributed tiny bits, and I haven't paid anybody anything, or signed any agreements.

At most, they own the brand.

@joeo10 Even if they did own the software, which they don't, and could change it without being seen, which they can't, it would still be illegal for them to copy other people's data without their consent.

@PixysJourney Z You can do this with Firefox and containers. You can then login to a site with different credentials in different containers.

@pfefferle Hi, I tried to make a quick activitypub_extract_mentions filter which just added myself to the list and returned it, like:

$mentions['@rene'] = 'https://mastodon.social/users/rene';
return $mentions;

It wasn't enough. Does there have to be a HTML link in the text of the toot too?
