We’ve just released a new firmware update "25.05", and we’re pretty excited about it! This one includes some key improvements, better performance, increased stability, and a few behind-the-scenes tweaks that make everything run smoother.
@reklame Hi Thomas, what model do you have? Unfortunately just as we were signing the StarLite V and StarBook VI firmware, we noticed a bug with those models. The team are working on that now - we are hoping just a day or two until they are released to stable. The 25.05 firmware is available for all other models. Sorry for the confusion...we got a bit excited and posted slightly prematurely 😂
@rpawlinski@reklame We've recently seen a few issues with fwupd (it pulls updates from LVFS). Some people don't see updates, and some see failed to back up original firmware: failed to read flash [2]. We're looking into it now, but it's hard to say how long it'll take. Given that we've worked with the LVFS for years, it likely won't be long. Please wait until Wednesday the 28th and then try to update again. Most likely, we'll have the issue fixed, but if not,we'll post an update in our guide.
This solves every known issue we have, apart from two. The two known issues affect only the StarLite Mk V: 1. **Bluetooth scanning doesn't work**; this is currently broken in kernels later than 6.10, and there are no easy workarounds available at the moment. 2. **Suspending is slow/unreliable**; this is a bug in Linux, the easiest way to workaround it is to remove the SD card reader tray.
Please feel free to reach out to our support team if you need more help.
@quad@hj for those with open Fighter orders, you should have received an update last week. If you haven't, please contact us so we can look into it.
We initially offered the Fighters on a made-to-order basis, but this approach was expensive and led to significant delays. We shifted to "mass" production to speed things up and make them more freely available and cheaper. As a small company, this has taken time, given the amount of work and investment required.
@aaribaud Debian uses an invalid boot label so coreboot won't add it automatically. It's something Debain needs to change unfortunately we can't do from our end
After a brief chat in the office, I've been told it's an issue with GNOME.
I spent the best part of the day trying to construct a reply to that effect without feeling like I was finger-pointing because, on the company account, that's a no-go.
Hey Mastodon. I'm not a huge gamer but if you wanted to watch a video of someone testing a Starlite with some games and an external monitor there is a youtube here.
Hey Aral, It's great to hear this issue is resolved. We just recently got back that duplicate keyboard we sent you. You know where to find us if you need anything
@aral@seindal I have been told [Your Country] are good when it comes to these issues. If they refuse to deliver you could contact the them and say that it was sent DDP (Delivery Duties Paid) and that they should read the invoice. I think I am about to call the courier today about this issue...
@seindal@aral Hi René, we have already paid the taxes due on our shipments, I have been told the issue is someone at the courier not reading our invoice saying that taxes have been paid. I was told by Sean that you MUST NOT PAY THE TAXES, because you will basically never get that back from the gov. I hope this has cleared this up. This is the first time I have encountered this since joining and it's unacceptable. I am looking at options to make sure this doesn't happen anymore.
