    This moment when right before the holidays your @starlabssystems #Starlite V suddenly stops seeing any Wifi or bluetooth because the last #Debian #Bookworm update now requires iwlwifi firmware version -77 to -89 but the stable firmware-iwlwifi package provides -72, and you need to switch it to backports to get -77, only you have no Wifi or BT... (of course I have an USB Wifi dongle *and* an USB-C to USB A adapter precisely for these cases)

      @starlabssystems Also: for some reason after I upgraded coreboot to 24.08, the #Starlite would not automatically boot Debian; I had to create a boot entry to automatically run shimx64 rather than grubx64 (which does however boot manually).

      @josch

      I don't expect cross compatibility when mixing stable and backport between kernel and firmware packages.

      I'll look into the issue of not booting after a coreboot upgrade, though, because BIOS and kernel versions ought to work whatever the combination.

      @aaribaud @starlabssystems Did you file a bug against the relevant packages for this issue? Without a bug, things don't get fixed and others will run into the same problem that you did.

      Thanks for the info! Is there more detail available on the Net about this issue? My Google Fu is failing me 😥

      @aaribaud Debian uses an invalid boot label so coreboot won't add it automatically. It's something Debain needs to change unfortunately we can't do from our end

      @starlabssystems @aaribaud

      I have Debian testing in my Starlite.

      No issues with WiFi. After each firmware upgrade it boots to the uefi prompt, I have to boot manually, and then reinstall grub, as in install-grub, not update-grub.

      Thanks! I'll live-boot testing later today and see if the issue goes away for me too - and then try and figure if I can fix it under stable.

      @seindal @starlabssystems Live testing didn't work either. Using bluetoothctl, with scan le I can, at times, see the device, and if I see it I can connect to it, but pairing always fails with AuthenticationCancelled. 😭

      @seindal @starlabssystems Thanks! Tried it, alas no effect.

      Note: I went through the git repo history, and saw that after the last update to ibt-0040-2120.*, four other files related to Jefferson Peak were updated (commit c402d0cd627...), but the driver did not apparently load them. Just in case, I copied them under /lib/firmware/intel, but that had zero effect too.

      @aaribaud @starlabssystems

      Hi, I remembered a problem I had in the beginning with paring a bt mouse. Scanning, however, worked, but pairing failed.

      From the mails with StarLabs:

      "
      I solved this by downloading more recent firmware files from here:
      https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git/tree/intel

      The files are ibt-0040-2120.{sfi,ddc}.
      "

      @seindal @starlabssystems Thanks again. I systematically did both every time I made any change -- to no avail.

      I think you need to update the initramfs too, and reboot.

      @seindal Thanks! At this point I suspect it's a Coreboot+iwlwifi issue. I'll keep an eye on both.

      @starlabssystems : if you would like me to run tests withthe Logi M240, just let me know.

      I can't come up with anymore, but if you want bootlogs or other information from my tablet, let me know and I'll get it to you.
