@serapath @davepeck @davew @brentsimmons @whitequark The issue is not something that an admin can fix. Big Email misroute traffic from self-hosted servers.

@sj Funny I remember this guy Charlie Kirk saying that the guy who tried to kill Paul Pelosi was an "amazing patriot" and that someone should post bail. 😂 #TheGreatFilter

@mhoye @mntmn Absolutely horrible user experience. Which application, which password. Does the keyring even exist? What is a keyring? All stuff aged grandmother is not going to know.

@GhostOnTheHalfShell @steter @Christian_Freiherr_von_Wolff They can't train it into the model - it will be some update to the guardian layer to inject nonsense at the behest of Elon.

In which @bagder is wrong about something, maybe.

"Wider code is harder to read."

Seems obvious it is highly subjective. Period.

I personally find excessive line breaking very difficult to read.

Being a DEC bunny I grew up on 80 chars. I always preferred my VT100 on 132w.

I found reading the blog post hard.

Breaking words is probably even worse (inset) 😂

I guess you can get used to anything.

But is there any evidence to support this dogma?

    tldr; No. /1

@sj probably just not counting people at all then? That does seem to be a trend in USA. Or maybe not being able to read and write or have any disposable income is not a barrier to having a high standard of living in USA. idk I do know some of the conclusions stood out immediately as having a cultural bias. But by all means believe what you want. You still didn't tell me what insight there was, the whole 'Everything is fine'? lol ok then.

@sj Oh no I did take some time and I got far enough to see that it was grossly out of date and a shockingly poor analysis. Understanding this melange of nonsense is an exercise in futility. Disappointed I couldn't find the graph that was screenshotted because so long and tortuous. I was really only interested in what you found interesting tbh. I offered my own opinion being somewhat NHS adjacent... What did you find interesting? Perhaps I missed some pearl.

@sj ...largely down to the absolute heroism of NHS staff, selfless dedication working under chronically inept leadership at times for much lower salaries than they deserve, for longer hours than is safe. UK is still has people willing to sacrifice for the public good, socially-minded. Or suckers and losers as MAGA would probably call them. It is an outlier itself. The French system is much better managed for example.

@sj I didn't get into it because tldr; and their data is chronically out of date -article is nearly 10yo and some of it dubiously sourced. Their analysis often does not follow. My hunch is that higher US healthcare costs are largely down to Big Pharma and Health Insurance rorting the living fuck out of US but that life expectancy has more to do with lifestyle/diet than that. Also there is no guarantee that NHS outcomes would improve with the same per capita spend as USA. NHS outcomes are... /1

@skinnylatte How does restricting H1B visas to only those positions that cannot be filled with Americans harm immigrants?

TBC I will never be affected by layoffs but I know very experienced, very smart people on here who have been and live in constant fear and WHY THE FUCK SHOULD THEY just because Elon wants slaves who will do any unethical thing he asks, cheaper.

@phaedral I understand you, like many people, are having an emotive response to the killing and I in no way seek to deminish or devalue that. For me it is interesting to have a more objective discussion around reporting anomalies re:pro hit or keen amateur e.g being able to clear a jam is firearms 101, yet how did he know where to be and when, a fucking bike? lol ok. Why was the CEO in town and so on.
