I'm just tired of people telling me that because I don't support blowing up schools, hospitals, universities and civilan dwellings, I must support terrorism. I don't. But nor do I support starving a population, killing aid workers and not engaging honestly in securing the release of the very people this is supposed to be about. The hostages are being starved and blown up too. That's not Ok.

He killed a lot of people but if he'd he'd had a gun do you genuinely imagine that situation would have worked out better than if he'd had a knife?He would have killed more people surely. Yes the real issue is male violence but allowing them to have guns is no solution to anything.

@user06337 @CindyWeinstein Freedom is the freedom not to walk on eggshells around men. The reason so many men are so ignorant about basic facts around human reproduction is because we fear making them uncomfortable. Why does their comfort take precedence over a a baby's right to eat? Covering up is not practical (until you've breastfed, you don't realise how unreasonable an expectation it is). I remember feeling like I couldn't leave the house because of other people's 'discomfort'.

@randahl it depends on the value of art and what we think it brings to humanity. The purpose of the original painting was to venerate a powerful man. It could be argued that what this protestor has done is itself art. It's been filmed. We're talking about it. The purpose is to draw attention to the history of a current conflict. It's worked. The old painting might have sat there forever collecting dust. The vandalised painting has now meaning.

@randahl it's an interesting challenge to human consciousness: do we value a painting over the lives of 10s of thousands of people? The painting is ripped and we've lost a pompous example of human folly from the past; 30,000 people die and their unique perspectives are lost. We don't seem to care about the latter, why is the former so important? Do we value the wrong things?
