@Smootasaurus if you join those things, you are choosing to expose your activity with those people. When you choose that, you’ve already shared all the information of the activity with them. It’s easy to not share that data with those groups if you want privacy. I don’t see where the issue is. You could choose not to record GPS data? That’d be the most private.
@Smootasaurus this is controlled by the visibility of the activity. If you can see the map, you already have enough information to see where they have been without needing to download anything.
@tinker that’s really cool! Thank you for the resource.
Relatedly, for knitting, there is ravelry.com which has both free and paid patterns!
Also for knitting is All Yarns Are Beautiful, an open source arduino based controller replacement for Brother KH-* knitting machine controllers from the 80s.
@LaserMistress They’re a little specific to my zone, but NYC makerspace has design services, and the other was Canal Plastic center (also in NYC). On the entrepreneur side, I know a couple of folks who do laser and CNC as their main business.
@LaserMistress I think it’s possible! I know of a few fabrication places that do design work, but haven’t used them myself. You might need to have other CAD skills or be independent…
