Every photo of Luigi Mangione I’ve seen since the perp walk has him surrounded by cops, even during hearings. They’re treating him like he’s Jason Bourne. That doesn’t happen. I’ve been in plenty of courtrooms where two deputies or jailers hustle ten or twelve inmates into the courtroom, then the officers take turns getting coffee.

The gaggle of police around Mangione at the defense table are purely for intimidation and optics.

One of the admittedly few things that gripes me about some fedi users is the absolutely astonishing level of entitlement in demanding *others* limit or CW/hashtag what they post because those users can’t handle certain stuff.

Deliberately navigating to a social media app and then complaining about what is “forced into” one’s eyes… that logic escapes me. Nobody forced you to open that app and scroll. Nobody else is responsible for what you see on the internet.

“But they didn’t use hashtags/CW!” Too bad. People may *choose* to use those things, and it’s really cool that so many here do, but they don’t have to. Holy shit, people, act like grownups and be responsible for your own internet consumption.

I’ve reached the age where I get excited about banal things. Example: several months ago, I stayed in a hotel for work. While there, I opened one of the little bars of soap provided in the bathroom. It had a great scent (Peaceful Sandalwood), so when I checked out, I took the used bar and one of the bars housekeeping had left even though the other bar was perfectly fine.

Friends and neighbors, that little leaf-shaped bar of Zenses soap lasted through FOUR MONTHS of daily handwashing. I’m finally on the second bar. It’s been a month, and hardly looks any smaller.

Zenses, you make good soap.

It’s two days after Christmas.

Or is it? Time no longer exists. Names of days are songs lost long before this present, clockless world sprang into being.
