It's too expensive and unreliable, and will play no role in the energy system.

The only use of green hydrogen is as a chemical feedstock.

@ai6yr @ATLeagle Maybe, but I'm sure there are also intelligent young conservatives who are having to deal with the dissonance between reality and their party line.

They'll crack, eventually, and start huffing oil fumes like good republicans, as the dissonance is too great - but they're not there yet.

It wasn't that long ago that some old republican politicians tried unsuccessfully to rebrand the party to a "green conservatism". There is SOME awareness.

@BlackAzizAnansi I'm actively and radically opposed to any use of fossil fuels since I realized how far past the point of no return we are.

When I say "got a macro lens" I mean 3D printed a piece that lets me use a microscope 4X objective with my camera.

Its pretty cool, and looks kinda funny.

The USA seems obsessed with crime and punishment.

Everywhere signs warning against transgressions and rent-a-cops overly eager to harras homeless folks just trying to mind their business.

Nuclear took 20 years to reach 200GW, at a huge cost, causing several terrible accidents and producing a toxic waste that needs to be guarded for thousands of years.

Wind and solar reached 200GW in half the time for a fraction of the cost and without significant incidents.

There's little doubt in my mind right now that Mastodon is going to thrive.

I've been on and off this site several times over the years, and the only thing that was ever missing was a lively community.

We've got that now. It should be self-sustaining.
