     @ai6yr this feels like more of the performative nonsense advertising to those already in the flock. "See , we aren't anti-environment, some of us care." doesn't matter if it's not true, it makes the people involved feel better about siding with assholes

     @ai6yr @ATLeagle Maybe, but I'm sure there are also intelligent young conservatives who are having to deal with the dissonance between reality and their party line.

     They'll crack, eventually, and start huffing oil fumes like good republicans, as the dissonance is too great - but they're not there yet.

     It wasn't that long ago that some old republican politicians tried unsuccessfully to rebrand the party to a "green conservatism". There is SOME awareness.
