What comes to mind when you think of Star Trek tech? Transporters, replicators, tricorders, warp drive?

There's something that blows all that away, and we often overlook it, to the point that it's never even talked about on screen, they just take it for granted.

Somebody in Trek canon figured out how to scan and index objects at the atomic level.

That's how tricorders and medical bays work, it's how transporters work, it's how the ship's sensors can distinguish life signs.

@DivineKestrel every so often I have to remind myself that I was doing JSONP a year before Douglas Crockford “invented” JSON, and five years before Bob Ippolito coined the term.

Its is a memory that brings forth both “fuck yeah, I’m awesome” and “oh fuck, I’m old”

Here’s an opinion that may ruffle some feathers.

After two and a half years working with auth0, plus some time trying to implement AWS Cognito, I never want to use a third party authentication system again.

I get it, big businesses don’t want the data liability, but fucking hell… it causes more problems than it solves and makes a lot of basic auth handling three times more difficult.

Handling passwords is not so hard that you need to outsource it!
