@IceCubesApp there may be something new in Mastodon 4.3 requiring your attention. Creator tag on the bottom of some posts leads to creator Mastodon url when clicked on Mastodon website, but when clicked from IceCubes it leads to the article. I am talking about the “More from…” at the bottom of my post.

I was going to record a new video after work today, but instead, I fell into a rabbit hole of tuning OBS to improve how my microphone sounds. After many hours, I have only managed to make it sound worse. :thisisfine:

As a person with somewhat damaged hearing and who is not a native English speaker I appreciate the new #PeerTube live transcription functionality a lot! It's so much easier to follow the context when you can actually "hear" what people are saying. Normal captions are great, but this is even better!

My perfect car will give me FULL manual control until we reach the destination where I will stop it at the entry of wherever we have arrived. And then I will tell it to go find itself a parking spot and send me its position.

Naturally, all this MUST be programmed with #FreeSoftware so please don't recommend me a #Tesla. I love Nikola Tesla for being born in my country and all, but "his" (in the name, at least) current legacy is a bit proprietary. :gura_kekw:

@BeAware @nilesh well that's kinda obvious, isn't it? I am on a Mastodon instance but we are not on Mastodon social media :gura_kekw:

But I get what you are saying. Many newcomers don't quite understand the federation concept at all, not to mention various software behind instances.

What I think would help Fediverse a little bit is to persuade publications to remove the "share to Mastodon" button from their articles and replace it with Fedi share button if the API is the same on all?

@BeAware @nilesh I get it now. I am unsure what can I do to help fix that. I am not trolling, but I usually approach problems in a way to see if I can be helpful in any way.

@BeAware @nilesh Yevgeniy convinced me that we are better off without the quote post thing, so I am in his camp now. I was not before. But I am kinda interested in these other things and why they matter. Why would anyone support AP (that's the bluesky one, right?) and why would BlueSky not simply start supporting ActivityPub instead?

EDIT: I mixed up AT an AP. I have no idea what AP is.

@nilesh @BeAware so what you are saying is that Mastodon development is not keeping-up? Like Internet Explorer?

Considering that #ChatGPT now has “memory”, it would probably be the right moment for you to stop using it.

Switch to a local LLM instead. https://youtu.be/ZnRgrDs4qM4?si=JUcy6Xiz4N4EDL-3

@killyourfm while we are waiting for them to calculate it with their aducated guesses - I went ahead and used ChatGPT to tell me that PS5 Pro will be Radeon 6800, basically.

@killyourfm also thanks for welcoming me back :P

I am genuinely disappointed in the Pro. Sony fans have announced a 40 teraflops GPU and what is this today? A Radeon 6750XT in the Pro?

@killyourfm I know two types of PlayStation gamers:

    1. those who play in performance mode, always, and truly do not care about the pixel detail in the background

    2. those who truly care about every single pixel on the screen and don't give a fu_: about framerate

Both of these groups have no need for a discless 800€ console.

@killyourfm ah, you are referring to lazy developers. Those who constantly whine about having a gun held against their head while being forced to develop for Xbox Series S.

"OMG my game is performing like shit, it's the Series S fault, I promise my code is optimized!"

Yeah, I can see the Pro being a developer-relief so they don't need to optimize their code anymore. Just give them more GPU headroom and a built-in upscaling tech and once again the Pro will not be able to do 4K.
