@fesshole The thing I always hate about self-indulgent stuff like this is there is no consideration for either possible reasons or possible consequences.

Someone could miss the bowl due to palsy or vision issues, for example. Maybe it wasn't their fault the bowl didn't flush.

And someone could suffer serious or fatal illness from the bacterial transfer.

@fesshole To combat shoplifting, our local grocery store has so many security measures it's difficult to even get out of. And security guards trailing "suspicious" people all over the store.

Not to mention that shoplifting is one excuse used to hike grocery prices.

@Infoseepage In 2009-2012 the Pool was rebuilt, and switched to circulating water from the Tidal Basin reservoir. Algae appeared within a few weeks.

I think the expert hypothesis this time around is that painting the basin a dark color raises the water temperature, thus giving the algae even more of a boost.

@retech I think the important thing to remember is that *we* are forcing *them* to change tactics.

Which means yes, standing in the streets is most definitely hurting them. They can't bring in the numbers being demanded of them. We're slowing them and costing them money.

And guess what? We found out. Because they're being watched. Because people are out there and being alert. And because that open outrage actually makes the media pay attention.

People are rallying against those warehouses, forcing their local gov'ts to refuse approvals. The new offices? Building management can decide the risk is not worth the rent.
