@skinnylatte Paris can be like that to a degree. I have family in France and one of my cousins had a tiny apartment (former maid room, elevator stopped one floor below) and I think it was 100 sqft at most. But go downstairs and there were three boulangeries in the same block and multiple grocery stores (plus restaurants). For over a week our daily ritual was to get up early to get fresh croissants and/or a baguette from one of the boulangeries. Coupled with French butter... Yum. We bought other stuff, but the bread/butter was heavenly.

So if I have to leave NYC, Paris would do fine food-wise for me.

Look, a lot of tech nerds have stated their misgivings about the awful things misnamed as "AI" and their impacts, but here's a video from a man best known for reviewing hockey games and he's livid about Google pushing AI aggressively.

The normies are getting angry.

@skinnylatte It's so weird to me that skim milk would be the only option in a grocery store. Maybe it's a regional thing, as whole milk (which I'll admit isn't that high in fat) is available in any grocery store I visit here - and is the type of milk I purchase as it tastes and feels nicer (less fatty options feel thin to me).

Also goes better with coffee than any alternatives I've tried. But that's just personal preference.

Someone should tell PM Carney to ensure the Canadian government IT structure moves away from US vendors promptly. Investing in open source solutions and even creating .ca specific versions would be a good idea whenever possible. Until that part is done, see if EU alternatives could be used.

Mask ban in effect for Nassau county, NY.

Exceptions for health/religious reasons (as if these will be applied fairly; pretty sure white people will not be told to remove masks by cops as much as everybody else).

Seeing my endocrinologist on Friday for a routine appointment, will ask for a note saying that masking is recommended because I'm diabetic. Just in case.

Also, our illustrious mayor would love a similar ban in NYC.

A few weeks ago on here, Black women were trying to calm down all the panicky white liberal doomers who only saw defeat after one bad debate. BW never wavered.

BW then immediately wanted Harris as the only replacement once Biden dropped out. They were right, WaPo/NYT were wrong.

BW hoped for a good VP pick but would do the work anyway regardless.

BW seem pretty happy with the pick.

@thomasfuchs Doesn't help that some physicians discourage people from getting it (MIL told us our previous PCP is now one of those).

Anyway, we got the new shot and we know many of our neighbors won't as they believe they're fine. Instead of a continual effort from all levels of government to encourage vaccinations, we get all of them pushing for a return to offices. Yay.
