Yup, I'd heard back in the '90s that 88 was either "love and kisses" or "hugs and kisses".
But lately, the scuttlebutt is that RWNJs are using it for "HH"... which is sickening.

#HamRadio idea...
As you might be aware, some hams use "88" in place of "73".
I'm going to start adding "16" after "73" in QSOs, in modes where that works.
1 = A
6 = F
16 = Anti Fascist
Also, elon can eat $#!+ & die.
@bmacDonald94
Still, the talking donkey is a cool story. LOL
@bmacDonald94
This is why they wrote, “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” in the cult instruction manual.
@kibcol1049
Well ((blush))... this is unsettling.
I wonder what they'd say about backing into a parking spot (parallel parking, or in a lot), and ending up well-centered in the spot on the first go? Or being able to back up a trailer? Both while palm-steering one-handed.
If ipv6 requires decent-career-level of expertise, it's not for me.
So far, nothing has come up that has made me need nor want to touch ipv6, and I'm hopeful it will remain that way until I die.
That is, if I HAVE to use ipv6, I hope it's someone else's problem, and free/transparent to me.
@jmorris
Dang. I missed it ‘cuz I was busy with other dumb crap.
@moh_kohn @briankrebs
I concur. I haven't finished it yet (thanks for the spoiler that won't matter at all), but I've watched MOST of it. It's quite well done, I think.
The kid's a fine actor. Very believable.
@clacke
#JoshBlue bit on this. The Disabled are not only the largest minority, it’s the only one you can join at any time.
@jeffowski
Well... kinda.
See, if the basis/origin of the religion is about "God's chosen people" in the 1st place, the rest of this BS is pretty much inevitable, as such a religion is born of bigotry disguised as righteous indignation.
But the 3rd point is good.
@ryanc
This is an excellent point. It always seemed to me that listing one’s pronouns as any of she, her, he, him, they, or them, is all about how to refer to someone who’s in the other room. But knowing whether to say sir, ma’am, dude, miss, or buddy has to do with what pronoun to use TO YOU. And I so seldom see that covered.
OK (reluctantly)... you may have pants, but they cannot have pockets.
Genitals.
@jmorris @vees
I very nearly had a 6-month assignment in Australia when I worked for Oracle.
Back in my 30s, I would've tolerated a flight that long.
Now, in the era of perpetual Covid, I won't (voluntarily) tolerate any situation stuck in a confined space with other people.
However, if I win the lottery, I'm finding someone with a blue water sailboat and hiring them full-time. They'll teach me to sail, and I'll finally see Europe, Australia, etc.
2 of my bucket list items are
Experience Aurora Borealis
See the Milky Way
...and possibly photograph both.
Well, if we get a major blackout, I might get both of these things checked off this weekend, without even traveling North!
Oooh... good tip. I'll look for that.
In THEORY, the #ActivityPub #Plugin for #WordPress is a wonderful idea.
In practice, I have not seen it actually work even once.
I'm able to find my WP user from here in the mastodon.hams.social web UI, and can "Follow". But it doesn't show my headshot AVI - a plain WP logo instead.
Then, after doing said follow, I switch to WP and make a post. Come back here - do I see that post? Hell no.
So I DM from masto to WP. Does that DM show UP anywhere? Nope.
It dances around the edge of working.
#SorryNotSorry but the struggles that I witness other people having while they're just trying to get into a wonderful hobby, & contribute to its growth & survival, has really gotten under my skin today.
So I'm poking some #HamRadio #OldFarts right in the eye.
If that means you're now gonna block me, good. Good bye, good riddance, and good luck ya dillweed.
Grumpy ol' codger. Ham since '92 or somethin'.I'm not the Elephant Man; also not an elephant, man.It's not that I don't WANT you to follow me. It's that I didn't know that feature existed, until I bumped into it on someone else's profile.
