@hellomiakoda @KatyElphinstone I see plenty of "neurotypical" people not express empathy for stuff like this (points at lots of stuff in the world) but also they expect empathy for their personal and petty sub-optimal experiences.
I think there are times when people don't see empathy when they think they deserve it, but objectively, they don't.

@es0mhi @dj3ei I think you miss a key problem with gendered shorthand.
It assumes gender is significant and should be mentioned.

What if the operator is non-binary?
Or trans?
What if their partner isn't the "other" gender?

Using "op" for "operator" simplifies and removes any risk of embarrassment or upset for both parties.
Just like "so" for "significant other" does.

It also removes the assumption that no "xyl" (wife) can ever also be an ham in her own right.

It's basically a legacy of colonial racism.

Because everything that was a British colony at the time is V-something.

"We need so many callaigns" doesn't work when India has to share with Australia, Canada, etc.

However, "welcome" isn't quite true.

I can just put the 20m part of a SOTABEAMS "Band Hopper II" as a sloper in my garden.

I love Eurovision, I've watched it every year for as long as I can remember. We've hosted Eurovision parties with bouncy castles.

But they've once again allowed Israel to participate.
I can't separate art from artist when the artist is representing a country and a government that are perpetuating genocide.

Eurovision kicked out Russia for invading Ukraine.

@ian eh, "real" servers aren't that expensive. I've got a couple of VPSs with fast hosts and you can get a very basic one for about £32 a year.
