@kirby@charlie_root I didn't hop through many instances. My first account was on KF and I stayed there for a year basically only lurking and never posting anything meaningful (mostly drunk posting). I think I had like 15 posts total after a year. Then I stopped using all social media, deleted the account and a month or two later DropKiwiFarms started, leaving the instance dead to this day.
A year went by and I wanted to self-host my own git, Invidious and Searx instances. And that's how FluffyTail became a thing. The domain name is a reference to Fedi's obsession with anything that has a fluffy tail and a few months later Pleroma was just something I could put on the SLD not leaving it unused.
As much as people liked to trash on the KF instance, it was kinda great when you ignored a few bad apples. It had a good culture and many good posters. I also miss Steve Jail and his constant sperging. His Opphunter88 return was shortlived and now he's a Minds user I think.
@snacks@anemone@lucy Maybe set up media caching on the Hetzner edge, if you don't already. That might ease a lot of the traffic away from your connection.
@grips He deleted everything he could, bought a new domain for bsky, deleted bsky few days later, created a GTS instance as a "write-only" devblog and was completely silent until now.
As expected from attention seeking addicts like him, he immediately had to jump on the first drama he saw.
I was honestly looking forward to the FOSDEM livestream and seeing him getting carried away by security, but the organizers seemingly canceled the talk.
@lucy@anemone@snacks@twinspin6 feld had it almost working. Theoretically it's possible, but one or two libraries Pleroma uses would have to be replaced. One of which is cachex, if I remember correctly.
@snacks@anemone@lucy@twinspin6 Yeah, you would have to be a lot bigger for it to make sense. Old SPC was on the edge being able to run on a single server. Poast uses multiple DBs and Pleroma instances on standby I think, but that might just be for replication and HA, not for performance reasons.
@PurpCat >the first replacement was rotted out The rusted laptop you posted days ago? Did a leaking battery destroy or was it just bad storage?
>i'm waiting for my new 98 laptop to come in a day or two I've been waiting 5 days for customs to clear a replacement part for a Deepcool case. So far basically no communication.
@lucy Pandoc flavored markdown with latex sprinkled in when needed is the comfiest setup when you need a simple document quick without TOCs, quotations and stuff like that.
