What's the problem with toilet paper or web wipes, aren't those 100% recyclable?
I mean making them is probably still not eco-friendly — just as purifying the wastewater BTW, and they can still clog the pipes… But that's so minor compared to other shit we have going on in the world :marseyshrug: -

Personally, I doubt that it's standard library's call at all to do this :marseyshrug:
Not only Rust is affected, but every other language that has similar facilities in the standard library producing binaries that run in Windows — it's even mentioned in the article. And as you can see, for most of them the fix is to mention it in the documentation, for Java it's explicit WONTFIX even. The headline is made clickbait on purpose by Rust being mentioned IMO, no other tech news website put it that way — that is why I have failed to find a similar article on Slashdot or The Register and had to go to Bleeping Computer itself to read about it. -

I've been followed on SoundCloud when I still had an account there by an underground musician I admire. Most probably don't even know her name, who she is, but for me it was exciting :marseystars:

I think I've seen something about support for Threads coming to the next release of Permonbler, so hopefully we'll be able to see them from our own instances soon. -

It's the way Permoler implements ActivityPub I think, there is a certain field that is missing, but which is required to pedereate with Threads. There is a patch that adds it in the development branch, theoretically, you can find it and apply it on your instance manually.

Hm-m-m… At least now I know what type of journalists everyone seems to hate so much. Not the type that I prefer — investigative journos, these I think do a pretty decent job most of the time and at times even risk their lives. -

And how much storage space does having media proxy usually take on a not very active instance? I don't have to pay to Amazon for some cloud shit as this instance runs at my place, but if it's a matter of terabytes, that's still going to be a problem. -

Their real mistake was messing with hardware certification — typical Microsoft mind game of the time, but that time it backfired. AFAIR there were two grades: computers that were supposed to run Vista well, and those that barely met the minimum requirements — normal people got confused and couldn't distinguish the two, they bought laptops with a shiny sticker at a price that seemed very attractive only to find out how awfully it runs. And of course they were blaming Vista for it.
