@kaia "This… thing — it looks fscking hideous! I don't even want to have it on my phone!" — that's the line I always use when I want to convince someone to use privacy-respecting software. It works most of the time and when it doesn't — at least you don't get the usual tinfoil hat related responses. Worth a try!
@dcc@MK2boogaloo@kirby@mint BTW do you guys know that Curb your enthusiasm is a show created by a Jewish person, written and starring lots of Jews and being about very Jewish lifestyle in general? :marseyisrael: Not that I have any problem with it, just wondering if you have ever noticed? :marseysmug2:
@hj The camera has to be connected to something to transmit the image though. Don't they have models with cameras in them already? I think there was a huge scandal when it was discovered that these images were getting transmitted to real humans to do the analysis? :marseyhmm: Otherwise — a fine piece of deadly equipment :marseytroublemaker:
@newt@pesekcuy I think I might even still have the equipment to "print" it on photosensitive paper somewhere, but I've never did this myself. In my childhood photography as hobby looked so overly complex to me that I've been wondering why would people do this voluntarily just to have poor pictures of themselves. As I grew older, I have discovered that people have all sorts of weird hobbies, photography being far from worst of them even, but even as it became just a press of a button, I still don't see the point in having poor pictures of myself 😂
@dcc Something was wrong with my Pemorla a couple of hours ago, it got so unresponsive that even the reactions timed out, sometimes stock PleromaFE failed to load, while Bloat worked, I've been even considering mercy killing it, but somehow it got back to its feet just from me hanging out on Fedi for a couple of hours.
@kirby@Inginsub@mint Yesterday I've come across this: https://fedipact.veganism.social/ I'm not a fan of lizard people, but I've also never blocked any instances on purpose. I've been wondering why have I become such a rebel without doing anything, looks like there is an explanation for this :jpa_light_bulb:
@kaia Quality is usually pretty horrible though if you use GPU for encoding — but I dunno, maybe they have added different profiles now, I've only tried it on my olde GTX 680 and the result had visible compression artifacts and such.
@realman543@kirby@ExtraSpecialK sshd with systemd support is how it was discovered, we still don't know if it's the only use case that might be affected. It's still not safe to assume that other software depending on liblzma isn't compromised as no one did the source code audit proper. Even very old versions, e.g. 5.2.x might be affected, as this "person" was with the project for quite some time.
So I won't panic that much, we're all fucked anyway 😊
