That's kind of why I dislike web stuff, there's always a new fad, if you start a web-based project, you are tied to a permanent time commitment if you want it to keep working. They don't give a shit about backward compatibility and reigning in software decay.

Meanwhile with native stuff and to an extent even Python-tier stuff, you can put something together on a whim, not need it for a while, come back to it a few months or a year or two later, and still have it more or less functional.

It's so different from the philosophy where I work, where we think a lot about backwards compatibility.

The more glaring giveaway of him lacking experience imo was stuff like doing "x == false" rather than just "!x", and some of the more serious performance issues that an experienced dev of any sort should foresee.

Life has been so busy recently, it's kinda nice. Looks like it's going to stay this busy for a month or so.
