@forteller I disagree. While it's true we need "a future we want" as much as a "map to get there", there's considerable value in the former on its own, at least at first.

Societies are built on stories, and the first step to building a better future is painting it for others. You may not have the answer to "how we get there", but your readers might. Inspiration must come first.

I was out #cycling with my wife and kid yesterday. Wife was on the cargo e-bike, kid on her little Frog bike, and me on my typical road bike with an unused FollowMe attached.

A family of four walking by stopped us to ask questions about all three, clearly interested. Dude just deadpans: "You don't even have a car do you?"

"Nope, that's our car", I say, pointing to the cargo bike.

"Wild" he says.

There's real #FuckCars energy out there, but I think modelling it helps inspire others.

All the clever bootlickers remarking on how Canada could help "tilt US politics to the left" by allowing annexation really don't get it.

The US has never dealt with Canada in good faith, and they certainly wouldn't be any better as overlords. We wouldn't be the 51st state, let alone the ambitious 51st, 52nd, 53rd, and 54th states I've heard bragged about. We'd be fucking Puerto Rico: essentially a vassal state with no power, owned & subjugated by literal Nazis.

@GossiTheDog it's about time EU leaders started waking up the fact that the United States (at least in my lifetime) has *never* been a partner with anyone. They don't play well with others, and will choose domination over cooperation every time.

We cannot rely on them for anything, and doing so runs the risk of their crazy rubbing off on the rest of us.
