I'm no expert in literature or aesthetics, but it seems to me that #Solarpunk can not be only about the perfect future state of equitable, high tech societies in balance with nature. It has to also be about the far from perfect struggles to get there. Societies that are not fair and just, that still keeps destroying climate, nature and the human spirit. But within which there are people struggling to give birth to the new world. With the imperfect tools and framework they have and live within.

@forteller I disagree. While it's true we need "a future we want" as much as a "map to get there", there's considerable value in the former on its own, at least at first.

Societies are built on stories, and the first step to building a better future is painting it for others. You may not have the answer to "how we get there", but your readers might. Inspiration must come first.

The dominant voices in our culture foretell a cyberpunk future. First we must collectively imagine a #solarpunk one.

@danielquinn Thank you! I totally see where you're coming from. And you might be right.

Here's my thought process: I was reminded that someone replied to this post of mine saying it's not solarpunk, because there's pollution and unnecessary cars in it.

I'm thinking it might be solarpunk, because it's a rebellion against the current broken system where tech is used against us (those are VC funded autonomous cars), with the means of bicycles and people power.

      I don't know the answer.
