@Addmen I broke down & mirrored my Mastodon acct over there. But people at Mastodon are more genuine in my experience. I'm not opposed to Bluesky, but most of those posters are frustrated mainstream liberals looking to vent. If you remind them of anything, they get upset. Here, I've encountered real progressives who are willing to criticize both parties along progressive lines (even fellow socialists & revolutionaries!), which is refreshing. Still, anything is better at this point than the bird.

@ekis I would never put anything past the Cheney family. As I stated when Rep. Liz Cheney first endorsed VP Kamala Harris, if progressives have to depend on a bunch of warmongering, right-wing imperialists to win a campaign (who are only endorsing her for cynical reasons [because their own right-wing candidate personally clashes with them]), we're doomed. Progressives don't win by getting Hindenburg onboard against Hitler. We win by getting the people on our side.

@Radical_EgoCom I agree. Even during Soviet times, rulers like Stalin encouraged workers in the UK to vote for Clement Atlee. It's a strategy. The same with Soviet support for the Republicans during the Spanish Civil War or the Social Democrats-Communist anti-fascist coalition during the Weimar years in Germany. With that said, we have to understand these parties are all capitalist at the end of the day. A strategy does not a permanent arrangement maketh.

@rodhilton I don’t assume they will regret it. I don’t think most of them care. They only want what they want, & if it comes at our expense all the better. We need to stop telling ourselves these voters are somehow just regular folk who’ve been tricked. This is an open enough society, most of them know exactly what they’re doing when they say things like ‘lock her up,’ ‘all lives matter,’ & ‘kick out illegals.’ I take them at their words. They’re effectly & actively evil in their sentiments.

@WhiteCatTamer @rodhilton Point taken. In that case, I’m not going to blame them for refusing to vote for Harris. I’m going to blame the people who voted for Trump because they’re the ones chiefly responsible if he wins. And while I’m voting for Harris, not happily, since the Democrats remain imperialists who look at Palestinians as subhumans, I cannot be mad or upset or police people on my side who refuse to do so. That’s on us for nominating imperialists.

My wife still gets at me for trying to carry every single bag of groceries at once. I had to stop after dropping and breaking a few items, now that I’m in my 60s. So, we do chill out at some point. I think.

@jeffowski The point of capitalism is to work you with minimal provisions to maximize profits for owners and investors. Slavery never went away. It was repackaged and called business. Same value system, which is why we still have human suffering and misery.

@RickiTarr I hate to say this, but I’m going to be honest. If you’re a woman, & buying a new car, try to see if you can find a dealership owned by a woman. If not, you have to go in & frankly be mean to them. The car salesman horror stories from female relatives are manifold. I’m sure I’m sounding like a broken record. My wife would go in, tell them what she wanted, price, etc., said those were her conditions &, if not met, would walk. Oh, yeah, never sit down w/them until you buy.

@RickiTarr When I was younger, I went & negotiated on behalf of my oldest daughter (who did not have the stomach to put up with it). Back when I could wear flannel & scare people w/my appearance (beards weren’t as common then). It angers me that this world is like this, but I wouldn’t let them treat her the way they treated my mom, sister, and grandmother. But my wife is like a buzzsaw for them. They’d way prefer me these days.

@ryanhoulihan I’d no more trust anything owned by FB/Meta than I would he-who-shall-not-be-named that wrecked Twitter. People who are upset at the bird killer & lack trust in Meta (& its controlling ways), they really need to come to Mastodon. My only regret is that I did not start an account earlier. I’ve tried recruiting some of my friends & family (who aren’t on the lunatic fringe) to come over, but they’re seemingly trapped by FB holding all their memories & pictures hostage.

@BruceMirken @gee8sh @Mary625 @LALegault @maggiejk Which is all the more reason why these calculating politicians need to grow a conscience. I'm not surprised, esp. Biden, but it's incredibly disappointing and upsetting to see this. Basically, Palestinians are subhuman to the U.S. Congress.

@Gargron As much as I hate copyright law, if that is what it takes to restrict robotics and AI from replacing us, so be it. At least once, copyright law will have served a purpose for the common good.
