That's the thing. Liberals sneer at us about "purity tests" but no, seriously-- this is a moral litmus test issue. Anyone who is comfortable facilitating mass suffering and death has a moral compass so twisted they shouldn't be trusted with so much as a pot of hot coffee much less a position of power. If we don't draw a line HERE, we've got no fucking ethics or backbone at all.
@WillA763@BruceMirken@gee8sh@Mary625@LALegault so are disabled people, the largest marginalized group in America. If the current president is trying to genocide the largest marginalized group in America why are we at all shocked that he’s fine with genocide on the Palestinians? They can’t vote for him, we can and he’s still trying to kill us all.
@gee8sh@Mary625@LALegault@maggiejk I think most Dems (and Republicans) think there's more political danger in being seen as opposing Israel than in being pro-Israel. That's the only plausible explanation for only about 11 senators voting for Bernie Sanders' eminently reasonable and mild recent resolution.
@BruceMirken@gee8sh@Mary625@LALegault@maggiejk Which is all the more reason why these calculating politicians need to grow a conscience. I'm not surprised, esp. Biden, but it's incredibly disappointing and upsetting to see this. Basically, Palestinians are subhuman to the U.S. Congress.
Love ya’ll but I could write you a thesis on his blindspots right now especially what I have been hearing from organizers and supporters will argue all day like the DNC
@LALegault@Mary625@gee8sh@maggiejk I actually agree with you that Dems have multiple blind spots. But I 've seen zero evidence that even a large minority of UAW members are going to not vote for Biden (not counting the small number of MAGA types that no doubt exist in the union). But Michigan will be close and it has enough Muslim residents to be a problem for Biden, and he needs to get a clue.
I guess what matters is what translates into pressure on Biden that he actually feels to change his course. So far I feel he's betting on people's fear of Trump. So I would rather Dems don't have blind spots.
It doesn’t really matter if non-UAW members don’t know, they know internally. If you go back to my original post it was a list of slipping support for Biden, these members are among that list. That *IS* the democratic blindspot.
Not really true. Should be true but without you posting this, I wouldn't know. And this is just a few. I am sure there are more but Fain still gets to call it. And he did
@LALegault@Mary625@gee8sh@maggiejk Nothing in that article says the UAW is backtracking its endorsement of Biden. It quotes some lefty UAW members saying they're pissed off, which is obviously true, but very far from indicating a change in the UAW's official position.
Maybe not as bad, but then you have the Biden crowd chanting "4 more years" which is like chanting "we don't hear you".
In the best of cases, a pro-Biden would tell you that he's on it. That he's working his quiet magical secretive non-transparent diplomacy to solve the issue. You just have to blindly trust him.
Not enough 50% of democrats believe he is aiding in genocide, 63% of Democrats are considering becoming Independent, UAW refused to endorse him because of the genocide, and he has lost Michigan. I am not citing these things to be hurtful, the math does not math for a second term.
@Mary625@LALegault I was so disgusted watching his people drag young voters out of the room because they were chanting “cease-fire”. It was so trumpian.
The only real difference is that other folks there to see Biden didn’t start beating up on the people being removed. That was happening at SNHU Stadium in New Hampshire. I forget why the people were being removed, but the red hats were trying to hit them and shove them as security was taking them away.
I would call it animalistic, but animals are better than that.
