I got into a back-and-forth yesterday that ended up being exactly about this

His big issue came down to he was using some "app" to reach Mastodon on his Mac laptop and it wasn't working well

I was like "Dude, why are you using an app? What's wrong with Safari?"

It was like he had no idea what I was even talking about

"Safari? Like a web browser? I can do that?"
