Does @peertube alreay support or has plans to support statistics which parts of a video got watched most? Of course via ActivityPub extensions. Could be either private as a reflection for the editor or public. #PeerTube#ActivityPub
@_elena@magikh In my optinion hosting Lemmy or similar makes the most sense, when you want to host the channels yourself, but for participating, an account probably enough at most times.
@andypiper As you wrote a FEP for quoting, I really wonder what you think: isn't it that linking, embedding and quoting have quite something in common, so shouldn't their implementations be derivatives from each other?
I wonder if Mastodon quotes aren't technically related more to embeds than "actual quotes". Cause what a Mastodon quote is doing is always referring to the whole quoted object (Note) without specifying where (and of course the consent, which is magnificent!). So maybe an embed could just be an extended Mastodon-quote where it is specified where it is in the content, e.g. via just using <embed> tags.
"actual quotes": being able to quote parts of something, putting it into context (where in content) and being referring to the whole origin source.
I see that we should continue this discussion on socialhub/the FEPs discussion places.
@silverpill Linking is good, I wonder if this can be fine tuned, to say whether to embed that target object or not. I guess it's maybe kind of related to quoting. I'll have to check quote implementations.
🎉 Development for Mastodon compatible #ActivityPub polls in #WordPress is starting. This project is receiving funding from the latest round of the NGI Zero Commons Fund. #ngi0#NLnet
@activitypub.blog Looks awesome. I love to see how it's finally time that those issues can get their attention. The virtual actor model, and the following/follows backed have indeed caused me some tough times. I totally agree with what you have outlined.
Feel free to tag me once you start working on this and want to hear my opinion, or want it reviewed, seems I will likely also have funding again soon to maintain and improve the Event-Bridge Plugin, as well as some stuff related in the ActivityPub plugin, like supporting this developments from a third parties/communities point of view!
As I <remember> the specs, they state that ID's may be omitted if it is sufficient for an object to exist that is embedded in a parent object that has an ID.
A question to my fellow #Fediverse developers: how do you handle if something you have announced changes? For example if gets updated, it gets deleted etc. Do you propagate an update to the followers, so that their targets instances, who might only know about that object because of your announce get informed?
@pfefferle@blog So if you don't see a blocker in keeping the name as it is, I would respond and point out that ActivityPub is not a companies name, or the name of a commercial product but a W3C protocol. I think it could be possible that reviewer never heard the term before.
Hallo #Freiburg! Wir sine zwei Fernwandernde, welche morgen ihr Ziel in Freiburg erreichen und dort noch auf der Suche nach einer Couch für eine Nacht wären! Schafft es das Fediverse uns einen Host zu vermitteln? Gerne teilen!
@thisismissem@blog@smallcircles Thanks for this hint. The thing is I am not that familiar with how `Invite` is currently used in the context of `Event`. To the best of my knowledge #Friendica and #Hubzilla did not implement anything that is beyond the ActivityPub/ActivityStreams specification. @developers@hubzilla@mkljczk
I think there are good examples, where it might be useful.
E.g. take an Event. You have the location, but it is online. So you don't add a Place, but rather an schema.org/VirtualLocation. It also has a Name and a URL. If you also give it the type Place applications that do not know about VirtualLocation can still receive it.
I am just about finishing a FEP draft. I hope I don't miss something! I'd say let's keep discussing on socialhub once it's submitted?!
I endeavour to push forward events in the Fediverse thanks to NGIZero/NLnet: @blogDeveloping polls in WordPress ActivityPub.I am a pianist, multi-instrumentalist, engineer and I work with Moodle for my day job.For me, social media is not too attractive, I would be happy to follow artists and institutions via RSS. But the negative impact on society, democracy and people, has made me want to do something: I founded this instance to promote a better alternative.he/him
