    As I <remember> the specs, they state that ID's may be omitted if it is sufficient for an object to exist that is embedded in a parent object that has an ID.

    Edit: See https://www.w3.org/TR/activitypub/#obj-id

    But then you probably should set it to null.

      ActivityPub
      The ActivityPub protocol is a decentralized social networking protocol based upon the [ActivityStreams] 2.0 data format. It provides a client to server API for creating, updating and deleting content, as well as a federated server to server API for delivering notifications and content.

    A question to my fellow #Fediverse developers: how do you handle if something you have announced changes? For example if gets updated, it gets deleted etc. Do you propagate an update to the followers, so that their targets instances, who might only know about that object because of your announce get informed?

    @Bigou @evan
    Some applications (e.g., #Mobilizon ) use frameworks that by default mark wildcard certs as not secure.

    And maybe there are more, and you will waste hours until you find out it's not your code.

    Do not try setting up an #ActivityPub server using a #wildcard SSL/TLS certificate.

    @pfefferle @blog So if you don't see a blocker in keeping the name as it is, I would respond and point out that ActivityPub is not a companies name, or the name of a commercial product but a W3C protocol. I think it could be possible that reviewer never heard the term before.

    Hallo #Freiburg! Wir sine zwei Fernwandernde, welche morgen ihr Ziel in Freiburg erreichen und dort noch auf der Suche nach einer Couch für eine Nacht wären! Schafft es das Fediverse uns einen Host zu vermitteln? Gerne teilen!

    @thisismissem @blog @smallcircles Thanks for this hint. The thing is I am not that familiar with how `Invite` is currently used in the context of `Event`. To the best of my knowledge #Friendica and #Hubzilla did not implement anything that is beyond the ActivityPub/ActivityStreams specification. @developers @hubzilla @mkljczk

    @silverpill

    I think there are good examples, where it might be useful.

    E.g. take an Event. You have the location, but it is online. So you don't add a Place, but rather an schema.org/VirtualLocation. It also has a Name and a URL. If you also give it the type Place applications that do not know about VirtualLocation can still receive it.

    I am just about finishing a FEP draft. I hope I don't miss something! I'd say let's keep discussing on socialhub once it's submitted?!

      VirtualLocation - Schema.org Type
      Schema.org Type: VirtualLocation - An online or virtual location for attending events. For example, one may attend an online seminar or educational event. While a virtual location may be used as the location of an event, virtual locations should not be confused with physical locations in the real world.

    Are there any Fediverse applications that have problems receiving objects that have arrays within the "type"? @MastodonEngineering @dansup @pfefferle @helge @mkljczk @laurin

    Mastodon compatible #polls in #WordPress? Coming soon :)

    This is a feature I was looking for myself and due to the amazing work of @pfefferle on the #ActivityPub plugin things like this are now possible to realize pretty straight forward. The hardest part for me is getting UI right.

    This was a little side project, and I was challenging myself how fast I could get a prototype to work. But #Gutenberg and #React is something you do not get used to in an hour. I'll try to release the source soon.

    @pfefferle @darnell You did not mean the whole URL to be the same, but the Base URL?

    Or did you mean that the "url" attribute of the two actor objects is identical, but the "id" points to a new one?

    @pfefferle Da bin ich ganz deiner Meinung.

    Dass Mastodon und andere Anwendungen entscheiden, was vollständig und was nur (mittels summary, title, url...) konvertiert dargestellt wird, finde ich auch richtig. Schließlich wird ja auch die gesamte User Experience danach gestaltet.

    Aber es bleibt die Frage: Wie geht man mit noch unbekannten Typen um? Wie macht man deutlich, dass z.B. eine PodcastEpisode auch eine Erweiterung des Basistyps ist? Oder muss man das gar nicht?

    For me, social media is not very attractive, I would be happy to follow my favourite artists and some institutions via RSS. But the negative impact on society, democracy and many people, as well as how many have become dependent on them, made me want to do something: I founded this instance to promote a better alternative.I am a pianist, composer, audio-engineer, work with Moodle at UniGraz and on improving WordPress ActivityPub thanks to NGI Zero.he/him
