@killyourfm this one has made me so mad! 🤬 Stupid music licensing. Whenever I think about it, I feel like it should be handled differently. It's okay to pay a certain licensing fee ONCE, but it should be clear that the media is rolled into something else. It's transformed and becomes part of this new property. I want to shout "do it like the movies!!!", but then I remember that they removed the iconic Frank Sinatra intro on the DVD releases of "Married with children"...due to licensing costs. 😩
@justine I wrote a script and pipeline to keep my static website's robots.txt up to date on all the AI madness. Not that I trust any of them to adhere to it, but here's the resource I'm using for that.
@killyourfm Pour Some Sugar On Me is still an awesome song. I'm too young to have listened to Def Leppard back in the day, but that song is what made me check them out. 😁
@killyourfm@thunderbird I'm so looking forward to moving back to Thunderbird. I've used it for years on my home PCs, but I eventually dropped it because I mostly read my mails on my phone. And moving to ProtonMail seemed like the final straw, due to ProtonBridge being behind a paywall. But I'm ready to pay for having my mail kept safe and unscanned and I'm ready to reply to mails lightning fast (a.k.a. on a physical keyboard). I'm ready to come back. 🤩
@Polychrome this rules. It took me way too long to realize that all these situations are perfectly fine. I don't need to be liked by all other people, especially not those that don't accept me the way I am. Luckily I ran into a bunch of friends who did just that. Not sure if I would have ever made it to this conclusion without them. 🥰 Having kids, I would love to help them along in this regard, but I feel like this is something that must be experienced and cannot be taught. 😩
@jasongorman I'll give it that, but it really depends on what you define as *explaining* the code. I saw that technically all observations were correct, but none of them are helpful. If I'd ask real intelligence (a.k.a. a person), they'd (hopefully) explain the function in more broad strokes and go deeper and deeper until I understand what I need. 🙂
I saw this yesterday and was too frustrated to even read what they are planning. I've switched to wsltty, which is derived from Mintty. It doesn't have tabs, but I (re)familiarized myself with tmux and it's fine. I think even a bit better than before. Not sure yet. 😅 Wsltty doesn't integrate with PowerShell, Cmd or anything else, but when I'm being honest: I spend most of my time in WSL anyway.
@sobfly I also had a real creepy experience today. I chatted with a coworker via MS Teams. To any chat message, Teams will generate three quick replies. In this case...all three of them Spanish. My coworker has the least Spanish sounding name possible (his parents are German), but indeed he spent most of his childhood in Spain. I speak zero Spanish, and we never chat in Spanish... He was as freaked out as I was. 😱 @killyourfm
@killyourfm they took away fucking Windows Terminal!!! 😱😱😱 Nothing is holy anymore. I would so love to ditch Windows (and any other Microsoft product) entirely, but my work won't let me. 😩 At least I found a suitable replacement for Windows Terminal.
@killyourfm kinda. But also everything that went on in Guantanamo. 😢 There are only a few occasions where torture is the wrong answer in 24. And in at least one instance the person being tortured earlier is okay with Jack, because "he didn't know better at that time". I can't remember if there are ever any repercussions for illegal torture in the show. I feel like the first two seasons of Homeland (all I've seen) have a more varied approach and show the consequences more.
@killyourfm come to think of it, it might also be that I fell in with all the "ooraah" after the 9/11 attacks and now that I'm older feel ashamed. And I think 24 with it's theme of "whatever it takes" played at least a part in that. I was also just 14 in 2001. It's possible that I might be able to unfocus my eyes enough to enjoy at least the first few seasons of 24. It's also possible that my memory is playing tricks on me and I'm unfair towards the show.
@killyourfm In any case, I hope it doesn't dampen your enjoyment. 🙂 The first two seasons of 24 are great action and drama. I remember the third season as being a bit weaker, but the ones after that were still enjoyable.
@killyourfm I used to love that show, but I can no longer enjoy it. 😩 It's not the graphic or implied violence, I still enjoy that from time to time (on screen), but rather the context which is probably impossible to fix. Oh well, I've seen Seasons 1-9 at least twice each. That should be enough for a lifetime. 😅
Say...is there something similar to @bookwyrm for videogames? I often feel like sorting and writing down my thoughts whenever I finish a game and optionally give it a score. Mostly so I can remember why I liked/didn't like it. I imagine that someone out there might be mildly interested in my opinions. ?
