@mekkaokereke some people think blocking is bad because it limits your voice and your ideas won’t get out into that part of the world. But those guys aren’t listening anyway
@kaia not for me but also check your viewing history… I had my mouse pointer come to rest on a lame video which auto-played all the way through and then YouTube thought I’m really into twitch-streaming style game reviews for a bit.
@polotek@kissane@fediversereport I remember when twitter first launched and everyone in that community were discovering the work needed to get RoR to scale to a global “firehose” size. Feels like we're back there again but in different ways.
@kaia Google is so bad at maintaining services long term, I actually don’t get why the press doesn’t bring it up during their launches. Like… just ask them awkwardly about it when they’re pitching their next thing. They have no shame about it. It’s all caused by how their people get promoted internally, so they could change policies and it would get better. They need to be called out.
@atomicpoet@Gargron it’s also not fair to compare a site with 2 orders of magnitude less people on it. Pretty easy to have a quality site if it’s invite only.
