     That was one of the issues why I didn't want to root my device.

     @kaia Google is so bad at maintaining services long term, I actually don’t get why the press doesn’t bring it up during their launches. Like… just ask them awkwardly about it when they’re pitching their next thing. They have no shame about it. It’s all caused by how their people get promoted internally, so they could change policies and it would get better. They need to be called out.

     I would suggest just using the website of the bank rather than permanently installing their malware and giving it access to a bunch of spying functionality.
     
     You're still running malware in the form of JavaScript, but at least for the most part, websites don't get access to a bunch of APIs that can be used for spying.
     
     I wish I could recommend a bank to you that respected their customers freedom, but there isn't any.
