@BeAware For some reason a significant part of Bluesky users are huge fans of blocking, it pisses me off… You get blocked for something you wrote somewhere to someone else, or because they don't like your "vibes" or whatever, even when you haven't interacted with that person. And then random parts of threads everywhere are inaccessible to you. And people are like "hey listen everyone, block early and block often, you don't have to explain yourself to anyone"...

@BeAware There is a so called "blocking discourse" that comes up from time to time.

And if you just mention that you don't like this blocking culture - guess what, you get blocked by more people!

@ExpertPlus In one direction 🙂 Bridging my Bluesky account here. I generally mostly post on Bsky and cross-post here, so my posts here are mostly a subset of what's there, so there's not much point bridging this account there.

So apparently we've hit that 30% chance after all and #Bluesky didn't die before they allowed a bridge to run, who'd have guessed? 🤔

@vetehinen @evan It's from February, around the time when they enabled open signups and shortly before they enabled third party PDSes for limited testing.

I saved it because I've been tracking the progress of Bluesky closely since last spring, I know what devs are working on, and at that point I could have bet real money that they would enable bridges like this in the next few months. Implying that they'd somehow maliciously block it meant that someone doesn't know that much about Bluesky.

@BeAware I've heard about it, but… on a 1-person instance, if you don't follow people who post that, it shouldn't come to you by itself? I've just followed the people who I want to read and who don't post too much or create too much noise.

@BeAware Hmm… I'm on a single-user instance, and I do basically zero moderation work. I just followed the people I'm interested in, and I see their posts... (but I don't have any relays or anything else configured that would be somehow streaming random content into my instance)

@darnell They are in a rush, and it is coming soon :) They said "early 2024" recently, so I think they're planning to open up within a couple of months. They're working now on various moderation tooling to be able to handle people coming from independent servers.

Ooh, so this was added now in Safari 16.4, I was wondering if I missed this earlier - nice! This will be very useful in @bannerhunter ? I should be able to block some more sneaky cookie banners that don't have an easily identifiable id/class. Thank you Webkit team! @othermaciej #Safari #Webkit
