@dansup per my previous toot: https://mastodon.social/@engravecavedave/113271924295802065, the level which Meta is embracing, extending, and extinguishing fedi and Pixelfed is aggressive for such a small platform (in relation to the Big Tech number of users). Like, they didn't do this as aggressively to Bluesky or Twitter back in the day. Since Zucc is the only smart billionaire imo (low bar, I know), I believe that unlike the other bigger platforms he finds fedi and the open social media it embodies to be the only legit threat
@lxo I'm not completely sure but this is a Danish governmental service. I don't think they're selling the data so Idk if it counts as surveillance capitalism. Would it?
In Scandinavia it's quite common for politicians to take public transport and bike. Pretty sure they've taken the metro and S trains in Copenhagen. As for constantly having devices ... I would think they are privileged enough to constantly have new phones with ample battery life though. So may be out of touch with poorer people
I think at this point, #enshittification has become so ubiquitous that people equate enshittification practices with progress. Let me explain with a real world example.
The Danish government have a new app for public transport called #rejsekort. It automatically detects the nearest stop from your precise location and you just check in and out as you need to from your phone. While convenient, this system is set up to eventually replace the current infrastructure using transport cards. (1/?)
@inthehands and I really wanna hammer in home that's this lecturer is one of the best in the faculty in the sense that he actually cared about us and didn't see us as a burden. I'll let you imagination paint a picture to how the rest of the faculty members were
@inthehands I remember when the class year after me in my physics undergrad were struggling with most subjects because the uni had changed the degree structure drastically for that year. One day they went to the most, let me say genuine, lecturer there is and when they were complaining how no one is doing anything about the fact that they're all getting poor grades and failing, his response was, "we're under the impression that this is a particular bad year of students"
@mcc I remember being in a Facebook group of Physics student memes during my Physics Bachelor's and at some point someone innocently asked "What is spin?" wanting a genuine answer but the entire group got dumbfounded when they realised that there's no coherent explanation for it and it became an inside joke/meme in the group for months.
"What is spin? Oh, it's the angular momentum of a particle but not really."
@GossiTheDog I'm more likely to think Microsoft will throw openAI under the bus. That's why they never outright bought them but just "heavily invested" in them
@mina countries where borders were randomly drawn up by colonisers? Idk, that's what comes to my mind. It was done specifically to fuck up all organisational governments
