It seems there is a certain lack of creativity and willingness to think "outside the box."
I have collected some books published in the 1970s, which have (lower tech) ideas about heating and cooling.

@jeffowski Clown noses and stick on eyebrows?
@karlauerbach Modern evangelicals are not christians, they are flat-out heretics. (Which can also be applied to historical Calvinism in the US.)
@blogdiva It is already ±$6 in parts of California. I would like more mass transit, but in a county of 65,000 people in the California foothills, one can only expect so much.
I still need some kind of vehicle to transport 40 lb sacks of chicken feed. My birds insist.
(and the two full-size bags of potting soil, 5' plant trellises, and 15 gal pots, waiting to be unloaded, when it stops raining)
@georgetakei "Anti-Fa(scist)" is everyone who hates fascism.

You young folk...
Nixon resigned on my 16th birthday.
@amonduin
Because he is a narcissistic rat, descending into dementia, and fomenting chaos is his way of distracting the US people: "Look here, look there, but don't look straight ahead. Don't notice that I am destroying the US, while trying to take over the world. It's mine, it's mine, it's all mine!!!"
The Epstein files detail the involvement of (mostly) men from many countries. (See Andrew Whats-his-name) There are others who would like to remain unnamed.

@StillIRise1963 Oh, and Prop. 50 passed, 65% in favor, 35% opposed.
@StillIRise1963 So true. (now if white women would catch on - not holding my breath)
My amazingly enlightened grandpa, a long time union member, told me companies and bosses used racism to keep the workers fighting amongst themselves, so they wouldn't realize the true problem, the greed of the companies and bosses.
Grandpa (1898-1986), may you rest in power. ❤️
@bmacDonald94 Supply chains, supply chains, supply chains. Without them, nothing moves, including food.
Logistics are important.
@jeffowski What may come next:

We have been here before.
@futurebird @bransonturner @steter @ireneista @TerryHancock @panmanphil I have always despised Reagan. Shitty governor, shittier president. Crappy actor, sell-out to McCarthy. Puppet for the far right.

“Ten Commandments” of nonviolent resistance by Czechs and Slovaks against the Soviet troops. Published in the newspaper Vecerni Prah on August 26, 1968 – 6 days after the Soviet invasion*:
When a Soviet soldier comes to you, YOU:
1. Don’t know
2. Don’t care
3. Don’t tell
4. Don’t have
5. Don’t know how to
6. Don’t give
7. Can’t do
8. Don’t sell
9. Don’t show
10. Do nothing

@DoomsdaysCW @ai6yr Sorry I can't help with videos, but there are plenty of free, downloadable, out-of-copyright books on the Internet Archive on learning to sew on machines. If you have a borrowing account, you can check out newer books, as well.
The older books are actually better, because they address basic techniques that work on older/basic modern machines. I learned sewing before videos, so already have a collection of how-to books published between 1975 and 2000.
Damn, you guys just don't understand strategic thinking. Newsom can be replaced, but if we don't fight the fascists, now, it is all over. Next comes the camps and the ovens for _everyone_.
He may hate you, but you still stand a better chance with someone like Newsom (who at least has some flexibility), than the fascist, eugenicists like Mad King TACO and SS leader Steven Miller. They will happily kill off everyone they deem "subhuman," including all non-christians, the old, the poor, and the disabled of all colors and orientations. They want a white, Christofascist nation, rigidly mind-controlled and monitored.

"Welcome to California, please keep up with the flow of traffic."
- CHP officer, somewhere in southern California
After pulling a friend over for driving too slowly (55mph), the officer noticed the Washington State plates on the car.
The speed limit is sort of advisory on freeways in the central valleys... there are miles of total flat, generally straight highways.
@ai6yr @hutterer As always, good scissors; large for cutting out fabric, small for clipping thread, etc.
Seam ripper, sewing awl (I ordered the "Clover" brand).
Metal thimbles for hand sewing (several, they hide sometimes).
Lots of hand sewing needles, of various varieties, or buy one of the budget collections.
Machine needles in sizes 70-90 for general sewing, larger for heavier fabrics/threads. Leather needles for... leather and synthetic leathers.
Thread: A collection of good quality basic colors (Guttermann), in regular machine weight and a few in their heavier weight. Honking heavy thread for backpacks, etc. Wawak sells UV resistant thread ($$$) but worth it. I bought one giant spool in medium gray, which should last for some time.
Suggested Colors: Blue, black, brown, white, khaki, +brighter colors, depending on your taste in fabric colors. I would buy the basics in the larger spools, and "novelty" colors on smaller spools.
