He just has to do it "more."
And I refuse to pretend otherwise. So if that's what people want from me, I'd like them to just go bother someone else. Because I am way too upset and worried, for pretend.

@AnarchoNinaWrites @hannu_ikonen It was observed, ages ago, that fascists were all preceded by the ur-fascists who established the legal frameworks, agencies and traditions the fascists would need. They might even do it innocently but the machine itself is amoral and doesn't care who's driving it.
The PATRIOT Act, among so many other things, was perfectly emblematic of the danger we were building into the system.

I already got folks close to me getting beat by cops and rotting in jail for... protesting fascists, the carceral state, anti-migrant policies, police violence/militarization, a literal fucking genocide.
This is all happening WITHOUT the head Nazi being president yet, and has been for decades.

Way back when the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act came out here in 2001, the original "Snooper's Charter" (or the "Grim RIPA" as we called it!), I was among the activists arguing that if you build the physical apparatus and legal mechanisms for an intrusive nanny state - relying solely on the good nature of its current personnel to use it wisely - it will always be turned against its citizens eventually. 🤷♂️
