@stux @lanodan they've certainly kept the back end updated. Up until like December '23 or so @alex had been employed as a developer for them while indirectly supporting his development of #soapbox until he was able to get a grant to work on #nostr so he could leave there

@icedquinn@mia@lucy@realcaseyrollins This is all very helpful, it sounds like point 2 might be it since these are #webp files I get from like #GoogleImages or #YouTube. Some apps and sites that let you upload images (like #Soapbox, incidentally) don’t let you use upload #webp files because it filters them out, so I have to change the extension.
A list of alternative webclients for various #fediverse software:
Notes: * webclient: you use your own credential from your own instance * Listed are: official webclient hosts; or an instance list. * Optional: other instances. * In alphabetical order.
getting enthusiasm from existing fedi servers to migrate their communities to d3v1qntNet would be difficult… unless the d3v1qnt server was made to be backwards compatible with existing #mastodon and #misskey client apps and the #soapbox web client
Pleroma itself also have a lot of forks, though not as much as #Misskey and #Mastodon. One such is #Rebased.
You can give the Rebased fork a try over at https://c.wtf featuring the #Soapbox frontend. (#DidYouKnow that the Soapbox frontend originally started as a custom frontend for Mastodon?)
@alex I haven’t had enough time to A/B test, but have you noticed anything funky with the compose section in the #Soapbox#UI? Specifically when typing or pasting
@alex found an error in #Soapbox w/ #Mastodon where if you follow someone and that follow requires approval, but the UI doesn't catch on that the follow has been successful, going into the menu and clicking add or remove from groups causes the site to crash and you have to reload it. Not sure which of these errors caused it
@alex I do wonder though, does this mean that #Soapbox will not support the #Fediverse long-term? I frankly prefer the #Fediverse to #nostr due to post editing, and also malleable passwords (which I prefer to #nostr’s private keys–if a key is leaked for whatever reason, your account is permanently compromised!)
