@BeAware @inkican Don't go with Lemmy.. Use Mbin indeed (https://github.com/MbinOrg/mbin)! I forked the /kbin project some time ago, I was afraid this would happen. So no worries, just move to one of the Mbin instances (or host your own Mbin instance).
See a list of instances: https://fedidb.org/software/mbin

Step 3 of my evil plan regarding #fediverser and the #redditmigration has been executed. Anyone with a reddit account can go to https://portal.alien.top to claim their account at the alien.top #lemmy instance, and when they do so it gives you a list of your current reddit subscriptions and recommends the corresponding lemmy community.
Now, on to build and extend the lemmy communities so that we have more recommendations to make.
Wow #Fediverse, thanks for the help! I am genuinely surprised at how close the results were. It looks like the recommendation is to try out the #Threadiverse (#Kbin and / or #Lemmy) first - but only by 1.8% over #Peertube! Y'all must know that I've been getting frustrated with #Reddit lately. I also appreciate the recommendations for other things to explore.
Now the question is Kbin or Lemmy? Or both? (any thoughts?)

Are Friendica & Guppe part of the Threadiverse? Or is the Threadiverse just Lemmy & Kbin?
How many people joined Mastodon during the Reddit-migration?

@deutrino @hj @lanodan @Moon I follow several lemmy communities from #Friendica, and threading works fine, looks no different than this long hell thread save the first post always has a TITLE and is clearly a "re-toot" of the OP.
#Maston's handling where each post/comment looks like a single re-toot makes it nearly impossible to follow, especially with the added traffic with the #RedditMigration. I had to stop following @memes from my masto account because reasons.
There is a new Reddit alternative called "Squabbles".
The way Reddit had an /r/Vegan Squabbles has an /s/Vegan:
Squabbles has the same kind of text formatting markup as Reddit.
A "squabble" is the same thing as a "subreddit" ( discussion group for a subject ).
Don't let the word "Squabbles" fool you. The subculture of Squabbles is much more friendly and a whole lot less *negative* than Reddit.
Squabbles is easy to join, you don't even need an email address.
The interface for Squabbles is a lot more simple and attractive than the interface for Kbin.
If you don't like "write once, publish everywhere" you will be delighted to know that Squabbles is NOT federated. What you write on Squabbles stays on Squabbles. No worries about what you post ending up in apps and on sites you never heard of.
Squabbles has voting on Threads and comments, but not downvoting. There are no scores. I believe it makes Squabbles far less toxic than Reddit and contributes to the friendly atmosphere.
You do not need an invitation to join like Tildes. The moderation is neither draconian nor whimsical like Tildes.
Give Squabbles a try!

I just want to say for my first post to the #Fediverse that I've already seen more #alttext in the last couple of days than I've literally seen in my entire life. I don't know what it is, but as a blind user it's making me emotional to be able to actually interact with content. Think I'll write an introduction soon.

Last day of the Reddit 3rd party apps still working.
This seems to be the best list of where all the subreddits have relocated to.
For those getting into the #threadiverse, you may find my newly published "guide" (and commentary) interesting/useful! https://shellsharks.com/threadiversal-travel. Appreciate any and all feedback.

New #kbin user guide (preparation for impending wave of reddit migrants in July) - #RedditMigration - kbin.social
"Reddit is a Dying Mall" (by me!)
I predict that what will happen to #Reddit is the same thing that is happening to Twitter and has already happened to Facebook and frankly, actual shopping malls. The business side of things will churn along divorced from the content which will become ever more generic and culturally irrelevant.
#RedditMigration #kbin Update
