    not necessary evil. it was an intentionally designed-in evil, that could have been avoided by various means that would have accomplished decentralization. but that was against the design goals, which unfortunately sounds suspicious.

    I suppose part of the disappointment can arise when some go about monstering others, eh? yeah, I've witnessed a lot of that. but there's a huge difference between not making heroes and setting out to assassinate characters, and the latter is what I'm getting at.

    já vi cartas abertas com acusações aparentemente muito mais sólidas, mas ainda assim sabidamente mentirosas. quem julga e cancela sem nem procurar ouvir o outro lado normalmente não está buscando justiça, só sangue. quase nada sei sobre dansup, mas sei que há corporações poderosas se sentindo ameaçadas por seu trabalho, a ponto de censurar referências a ela dentro de seus jardins murados. não seria a primeira vez que interesses econômicos criam narrativas para assassinato de reputação. eu aconselho cuidado pra não acabar participando de um linchamento moral infundado e servindo à injustiça.

    you're right, but there's a very important detail you appear to be missing.

    it seems to be very common for neurodivergent people to be misperceived as exhibiting various misfeatures, tripping on social conventions, treading our atypical mental pathways, and expressing thoughts in ways that get misidentified. that's not to say that neurodivergents are incapable of being hateful, just that there are plenty of misunderstandings and lots of intolerance, ignorance, and prejudice.

    maybe you don't need to fork it yourself. if others share your interest in the program and lack the feature, you could get together to fund someone to implement it. but I guess you already know all that. sorry, I have a reflex to try to offer solutions when people are only looking for expressing frustration.

    I don't get why you'd have to upload things in the first place. I like to keep my own library at home, not off on someone else's cloud, though I have used GNU Jami to keep things I want to read automatically in sync and available on multiple devices. but hey, if this program you're speaking of is free software and you otherwise like it, it might make more sense to fork it and add the feature than to just leave it behind.

    it's probably more of a brand-focused thingie. and maybe it takes a different kind of twisted mind. me, I can't stop laughing at the last one.

    I considered writing up a xkcd-explained-like one, documenting the current sites and taglines I based this on, but I thought it not worth it. it isn't that funny. but it was funny enough that I enjoyed making it, and I expect some people to enjoy that I shared it.

    eu tava num restaurante com alguém, ciente de que na mesa ao lado havia alguém sozinho. demorou um tempão pra eu ver que era ele. convidei-o pra nossa mesa, ele veio meio hesitante mas veio. aí teve abraço, presente, sorriso, altos papos, como nunca tivemos.

    a convivência no fediverso me fez ver quanto temos em comum, e lamentar muito que ele não tolere minha presença por algumas diferenças importantes mas pontuais.

    parece que essa questão de reduzir pessoas a uma diferença ou semelhança, que se sobrepõe a tudo, é algo que tem estado muito em minha mente :-/
