@lightone @deadsuperhero This is correct. Also the fact there’s no local API that would allow independent UI frontends. As a result the UI is currently heavily coupled with the backend. The third pain point is Friendica’s feature breadth which makes any new UI initiative costly upfront.

We even added new feature since the last new theme was created about 10 years ago, so any new effort would have to take these into account in bulk.

@futurebird @dalias I feel like it isn’t a good fit for the same reason it isn’t a good fit to make a machine learning calculator. Sure, it can work, but at what cost and reliability compared to what we can already make using existing knowledge?

Unfortunately it doesn’t stop people to try to make worse versions of Wolfram Alpha using ML or LLM systems. 😞

Even beyond the already sufficient ecological and intellectual property considerations, using LLM tools in professional environments is potentially destroying junior positions in almost all intellectual jobs.

We're used to criticize Boomers for pulling the ladder after them, and this is our moment to choose to become the villain or not. For this reason and many others, refuse to use LLM-based tools, you don't even have to, nobody has been forced to use them that I know of (yet).
