The local college public radio station had some chicks that ran a "Democracy Now" show and as I recall every blurb they read somehow segued into a discussion about their cats or houseplants, basically the radio equivalent of the "Woman taking picture of Object" meme.
Money is not the root of all evil, folks, it's the LOVE of money that's the root of all evil. Big difference, HUGE! 1 Timothy 6:10 says it clearly. Some people twist it, they don't get it, not smart! And yes, ego can corrupt anyone—priests, socialists, even those who think they're the smartest in the room. Humility is key, folks, remember that!
@wjmaggos@EvilSandmich Money is not the only root to all evil. Pious priests can get very egotistical and so can a socialist that voluntarily takes a small salary to share what kind of a selfless intellectual powerhouse he is because he believes the correct path for everyone is the one that he comes up with.
@wjmaggos@EvilSandmich Right, everyone else has managed to avoid Pfizer, AstraZeneca and the government mandates. 🙄 And universal healthcare is indeed further left and that is precisely the audience that the m5m panders too as much as they can while also making sure they fill up their coffers. It’s not like a ref that seems like he’s bias towards one team but is actually biased towards another. It’s like a ref that is biased towards one team and that team is willfully blind with arrogance.
with mandates, they would have made less under universal health care.
if these companies are concerned about money, maybe that's also why they don't have on lefties who want much higher taxes on rich people and corporations.
your claim is they push a left agenda and that's cause they're all secret commies in their heart or cause they hate America or maybe both?
imo they don't push left. they go for profit - a wide audience w content palatable to ads and owners.
just saying something in a disdainful tone doesn't make it true.
the establishment does not want universal health care. re m5m, their big pharma advertisers know it would lead to pressure to lower drug prices like it has everywhere else.
the conspiracy worldview never thinks through how many of their big baddies actually want different things.
lots of podcasts now go on tangents. what I wish conservatives would recognize (and publicly say to other conservatives) is that the m5m is not "left". it might be further left than they are but it is much more about the establishment. the m5m has kept off progressive voices just like it has kept off conservative perspectives. and in the US where we lack the social services of most other rich countries, it's worth asking which side they've been better at making seem unreasonable.
@wjmaggos I think they were communists, or they were on before or after the communists I can't recall, sorry. They were just fun to listen to since whatever they were talking about took a second seat to whatever they were cooking for dinner. I guess they weren't very dedicated to the cause :02_shrug:
Let me tell you, folks, California—Gavin NewSCUM’s playground—is a TOTAL disaster. A guy tells me his niece’s class has 40% of the girls saying they’re bi or "anything other than straight." What’s going on, folks? This isn’t liberation, it’s confusion, pure and simple. The flower child boomers burned their bras and their brains, and now they’re burning down the future. Weak leadership, weak values—TOTAL chaos. But don’t worry, under my leadership, we’re bringing back strength, principles, and the GREATEST America anyone’s ever seen. No more woke insanity, folks. Believe me!
@wjmaggos@EvilSandmich@NoBeret And yea, it’s flower child boomers that burned bras and told girls they are no different than boys that brought this upon the world.
My brother’s daughter in California is in a class where 40% of the girls say they are bi or anything other than straight. That’s not liberation. That’s confusion.
I’m not an old man because I think kids should condition themselves to be grounded and principled and should harness and protect the power and fragility of sexuality.
I'm 46. Are you not the guy in your pic? I have a kid in high school. I don't see the perversion you're talking about. I do see kids less scared to be gay than in my day. One issue I don't like is girls more likely to say they are trans or non binary than a tomboy and angry about the norms forced on them like when I was their age. They internalize it instead of getting angry at the system. Do you have kids?
@wjmaggos@EvilSandmich@NoBeret You can’t even hear yourself and reflect before you respond just as I predicted. Perverting kids sexual development is no big deal, says the flower child boomer as he calls me an “old man”.
it's this generation's version of punk. they're also less afraid of saying they don't like the gender norms or know who they are yet. ask how many are actually taking hormone blockers or getting surgeries. calm down old man. the kids are alright.
@wjmaggos@EvilSandmich@NoBeret Obvious ostrich head in the sand when it comes to anything damning about the lefts cultural movements and its effects. Like I said, willfully blind because of arrogance.
If I show you stats of how many kids are saying they are trans now and how many say they are anything but straight and the steep climb upwards, you will change it from being a small thing made to appear as a big thing into “what’s wrong with that?
And here's a fact check of your claim, a law I'm not sure I support but which is not what you claimed.
And you're proving my point. Rich people turned an issue about a very small number of kids struggling with who they are into a meme about the govt castrating your kids so you'll hate govt some more and they can have less business regulation and lower taxes. They turned money into bs to get what they want and us get less.
@wjmaggos@NoBeret@justinerickson >being overly selfish is the problem That's a play on the "you're not nice" that lefties use on X. Thing is: who determines that? You? What makes you a qualified priest in determining who is "too selfish"/"not nice".
As an example, the VP candidate you voted for signed a law that allowed his state to abduct people's kids to castrate them. To me that's "not nice", but to you it is. You can see how "compromise would be really hard" over such an issue.
but I didn't say "not nice". I said selfish, wealth and a failure to compromise.
who decides is exactly the question and why we've built institutions with rules we're supposed to follow, not lie and bitch about when it means a president can't do what he wants. how much did Elon spend to help the GOP?
I somehow didn't hear about that law you claim exists above, but did just hear Rogan complaining about ICE harassing a guy he worked with for being brown.
being overly selfish is the problem. that can show up in an insatiable need for money or attention. probably other stuff too.
but some selfishness is required. and people tend to think they have the right ideas. so compromise is really hard. that's where the conflict begins.
and I focus on money because in our system, it's what allows the interests of a few who have more money to win out over the interests of the many. till it gets bad enough...
@wjmaggos@EvilSandmich@justinerickson@NoBeret The general decline in quality of life, including feeling connected to the people and things around us, does coordinate to the replacement of "heritage ethnic groups" in every country on earth and throughout history. Not everything is about race, but to pretend it's a nonfactor is willful blindness.
@justinerickson@wjmaggos@NoBeret While he would never take a trip on a public bus down MLK Boulevard, he fantasizes that completely different people will run public healthcare.
I do agree with you though. Between BigMed making a hash of it and our going broke (something he oddly doesn't factor) people will demand pretend government healthcare over non-existent, destroyed, "private care". Maggos will be first in line I'm sure for the "Canadian Solution" they have for Whites.
here's where I'd assume somebody with virtue would tell somebody (even someone they agree with on lots of stuff, maybe specifically someone they agree with cause it would be more likely to be listened to) not to bring race into this. but wtf do I know.
And you think people who don’t think like you should ever trust the government to run universal healthcare?
However, I think universal healthcare is more likely than you think because while leftists do everything to completely ignore who disagrees with them, just as you have, they scream bloody murder and call people fascists when people ignore them. The collective they create becomes a giant ego that is so big it’s undetectable for the people inside it.
@wjmaggos@EvilSandmich@NoBeret And people with your same tactics run for school board and become principals and down play any grievance that comes to them that seems like an “old man” grievance while they bend over backwards to stay cool with the “cool kids”. And things just keep ratcheting and ratcheting while new norms seem like no big deal. Meanwhile parents are pulling their kids out of public school in record numbers and bad things ARE happening with kids.
I know people that acted out against their parents and got pregnant or got put in juvi. Those parents should just chill out. They are just trolling.
You being elusive like this and down playing anything I have to say, no matter how severe the example, is precisely the problem and why “liberals” have nothing to do with freedom, liberty, diversity or equality. It’s all about stroking egos and making sure progressives can go through life with no shame or guilt.
you're acting like older generations concerned about the degenerating of younger generations. they try shit, sometimes just to freak out people like you. look at the trolling here. same thing. and you think it's a plot instead of just what happens with kids.
that damn rock and roll telling kids about Satan and to kill themselves.
@wjmaggos@justinerickson@NoBeret@EvilSandmich >it correlates with economic insecurity. Which is caused by what? Supply and demand is a thing on both sides of the pricing equation and does affect labor and prieuction. Having effectively the whole world as the supply side for labor is not ideal for the vast majority of people. This is especially bad if you care about community. >rich people don't feel worse cause they're now having fancy parties with more people of mixed ethnicities. You know that's not what I meant, nor is it how reality works. >people are happy to move for better jobs "Happy" to have to move your life and lose your community because of work. Some people want that, most don't. The problem is the "anywheres" are just that, while the "somewheres" can't just pickup and transplant their community. If only liberals had the same respect for their own culture and countrymen as they have for the outsider.
it correlates with economic insecurity. rich people don't feel worse cause they're now having fancy parties with more people of mixed ethnicities. people are happy to move for better jobs. the person of another ethnicity who does something you like is not a problem. it's only when your life sucks that most people freak out about "diversity".
peoples are always mixing. we define groups arbitrarily by drawing borders at certain times.
what I said about being willing to move is not intended to discount the pain of moving but to argue that people usually put their economic well-being above staying in homogeneous communities.
some people really like being with people like themselves. Not me. Hence why I like to argue with conservatives I guess. Not sure how many are more like me vs you.
@wjmaggos@justinerickson@NoBeret@EvilSandmich >some people really like being with people like themselves. Not me. Hence why I like to argue with conservatives I guess. Not sure how many are more like me vs you. A sizeable amount, probably more than half per research from Haidt et al. >people usually put their economic well-being above staying in homogeneous communities. And for many, if they had the choice, they wouldn't want to consider that. I don't even care if a community is homogeneous so much as not wanting it to change because of outside forces. Someone like you, with more cosmopolitan leanings, can literally go anywhere, but somebody like me has more considerations than just economics. It's quite absurd that "anywheres" expect those of us with a "somewhere" to just roll over and accept their attempts to hijack and usurp our space like some kind of parasite, and if we protest it's because of [insults and slander de jure]. This is why people hate carpet baggers and the new equivalent that formed in the remote work era.
@BowsacNoodle@wjmaggos@justinerickson@NoBeret The argument is hollow anyway: the choices that make for a better future for one's people are usually harder, which is why ancestor worship is so prevalent as a lot of people elected to have crappier lives so that we could have a better future. "Most people choosing to destroy their community for a buck" is not a good societal trend.
@wjmaggos@justinerickson@NoBeret@EvilSandmich >I don't think it's crazy to want what you want but it's currently unreasonable. Many "reasonable" things today were considered unreasonable 15 years ago. I care about my children and grandchildren more than my own self, so I will appear unreasonable as long as is necessary to defend their future. I expect everyone to do the same.
concerns about borders are not inherently racist. I hate that some of my fellow lefties default to that.
but wanting more immigration is also not a plot.
it's hard to balance all this stuff out when the world is now so interconnected and it's easier to travel. like I say to libertarians, I don't think it's crazy to want what you want but it's currently unreasonable. I wish you could have your own planet.
@wjmaggos@justinerickson@NoBeret@EvilSandmich Of course. I have empathy for people. I do feel for the people trying to make a better life for themselves. I simply request that they respect our societal rules, which includes conforming and leaving things the same or better than you found it. If they're not capable of doing that, I kindly ask they not come here.
I bring up the interconnectedness and reasonableness because what stops most of us from "doing more" to get what we want is empathy for others less like us. I hope you have and retain that.
Here is another example of the leftist ratchet going only one way against certain people. It’s all to serve themselves as far as self righteous shallow hipsters. It’s hip and cool to say white people suck, especially if you’re a hip white dude or a white feminist. But the moment they talk about another culture they talk about preservation. They say all cultures are equal until they talk about “white” culture. Their empathy is the same.
@reallyangry@wjmaggos@justinerickson@NoBeret@EvilSandmich You should have empathy for your fellow man. That doesn't mean you give them your proverbial seedcorn nor deprive your children of basic needs to help the stranger. Empathy or compassion does not require the self-sacrifice that modern liberal immigration policies demand.
@reallyangry@wjmaggos@justinerickson@NoBeret@EvilSandmich It's perfectly fine to not want people in your space without any reason. Just as you can't blame them for wanting a better life for their family, they shouldn't blame you for wanting to keep the life boat from sinking as it fills beyond capacity.
@Witch_Hunter_Siegfried@wjmaggos@justinerickson@NoBeret@EvilSandmich@reallyangry Don't conflate empathy with weakness or assume that it necessitates capitulation. I feel bad for my child when he's hungry at bed time because he chose not to eat his dinner, but I (usually) don't give him a snack because I need him to learn to make better choices (eat when it's time to eat, and try the food mom prepared). I don't blame him for being hungry and wanting food, but I cannot allow him to make his own rules in my house. You don't have to deny the humanity of foreigners to not give them everything that you and your ancestors worked for.
When I lived in a 3rd world country many didn’t like the US and didn’t like Americans, but nearly all would jump at any chance to come into the US and make more money.
You can see the guy on the side of road begging for money and see the sad life but when he flips you off when you don’t give him anything, I can know what he is feeling and realize it’s not something you want to foster.
@DEERBLOOD@justinerickson@wjmaggos@NoBeret@EvilSandmich@reallyangry Yeah I can't agree with that man. Maybe if their country sucked less they wouldn't leave. You're allowed to say "not my problem" on that, and you shouldn't be expected to give up the country for randos from the third world, but they're still people.
@justinerickson@wjmaggos@NoBeret@EvilSandmich@reallyangry Seems that some people are past the point of caring. I can't give up my humanity not being callous enough to do that, and frankly I think it's pretty weak that people default to "f*ck em!" when there's simple arguments against randos taking your stuff.
Thier countries suck by thier nature, it's not our fault, just look at aperica, we give them everything and it's still a shithole and they still complain.
@Bunsen@justinerickson@wjmaggos@NoBeret@EvilSandmich@reallyangry They shouldn't be in our country. I've said this several times now. Bukele did nothing wrong, and others will likely follow suit as they continue to see the drastic improvement in the society of El Salvador vs their own country.
empathy is about trying to truly understand where somebody else is coming from, but not losing yourself. and not just them, but trying to consider everyone.
I think that leads to not giving a kid a snack cause you're thinking bigger. and it leads to immigration policies that don't produce a native backlash, but also other policies that consider why they are coming. if other actions can also be taken.
@wjmaggos@Witch_Hunter_Siegfried@justinerickson@NoBeret@EvilSandmich@reallyangry >Immigration policies that don't produce a native backlash We could really use that. We have way too many immigrants. See my prior points (and yours regarding the elites and scraps) and recognize that they can afford to pay more to Heritage Americans™️ (mostly White Europeans) but choose to let our culture and people be removed in favor of borderless capitalism and a global race to the bottom.
Yeah I bet if we launched an offensive and killed a bunch of them they also wouldn't come here and then they also wouldn't need us to improve their situation with the threat being that if it doesn't improve they'll attempt to become our burden
Ultimately I've got far more empathy for my own, Boers being accepted as refugees is good for an example, and given they're not swarthoids they're not going to go around stealing and raping and killing lol.
My own point is they wouldn't be so it's not relevant and it's the brown's nature is why it happens. Reminder crime statistics are intentionally skewed twords us (look at the swarthoids they show as White) and fucking STILL we the lowest when it comes to criminality, the only exception is white collar stuff and that's due to requiring a brain lmao.
@DEERBLOOD@Witch_Hunter_Siegfried@wjmaggos@justinerickson@NoBeret@EvilSandmich@reallyangry I am perfectly fine saying "no, you can't come here" and putting efforts into stopping them. The liberal position is to replace me and my countrymen with outsiders who will work without the wages and standards of living my ancestors fought and sometimes died for. I don't need to nuke south America to hold those positions, nor would I want to. We've gone way too far into absurdist territory with this.
