     Right, everyone else has managed to avoid Pfizer, AstraZeneca and the government mandates. 🙄
     And universal healthcare is indeed further left and that is precisely the audience that the m5m panders too as much as they can while also making sure they fill up their coffers. It’s not like a ref that seems like he’s bias towards one team but is actually biased towards another. It’s like a ref that is biased towards one team and that team is willfully blind with arrogance.

     lots of podcasts now go on tangents. what I wish conservatives would recognize (and publicly say to other conservatives) is that the m5m is not "left". it might be further left than they are but it is much more about the establishment. the m5m has kept off progressive voices just like it has kept off conservative perspectives. and in the US where we lack the social services of most other rich countries, it's worth asking which side they've been better at making seem unreasonable.

     My brother’s daughter in California is in a class where 40% of the girls say they are bi or anything other than straight. That’s not liberation. That’s confusion.

     I'm 46. Are you not the guy in your pic? I have a kid in high school. I don't see the perversion you're talking about. I do see kids less scared to be gay than in my day. One issue I don't like is girls more likely to say they are trans or non binary than a tomboy and angry about the norms forced on them like when I was their age. They internalize it instead of getting angry at the system. Do you have kids?

     As an example, the VP candidate you voted for signed a law that allowed his state to abduct people's kids to castrate them. To me that's "not nice", but to you it is. You can see how "compromise would be really hard" over such an issue.

     being overly selfish is the problem. that can show up in an insatiable need for money or attention. probably other stuff too.

     but some selfishness is required. and people tend to think they have the right ideas. so compromise is really hard. that's where the conflict begins.

     and I focus on money because in our system, it's what allows the interests of a few who have more money to win out over the interests of the many. till it gets bad enough...

     what I said about being willing to move is not intended to discount the pain of moving but to argue that people usually put their economic well-being above staying in homogeneous communities.

     And for many, if they had the choice, they wouldn't want to consider that. I don't even care if a community is homogeneous so much as not wanting it to change because of outside forces. Someone like you, with more cosmopolitan leanings, can literally go anywhere, but somebody like me has more considerations than just economics. It's quite absurd that "anywheres" expect those of us with a "somewhere" to just roll over and accept their attempts to hijack and usurp our space like some kind of parasite, and if we protest it's because of [insults and slander de jure]. This is why people hate carpet baggers and the new equivalent that formed in the remote work era.

"Most people choosing to destroy their community for a buck" is not a good societal trend.

     but wanting more immigration is also not a plot.

     it's hard to balance all this stuff out when the world is now so interconnected and it's easier to travel. like I say to libertarians, I don't think it's crazy to want what you want but it's currently unreasonable. I wish you could have your own planet.

I feel bad for my child when he's hungry at bed time because he chose not to eat his dinner, but I (usually) don't give him a snack because I need him to learn to make better choices (eat when it's time to eat, and try the food mom prepared). I don't blame him for being hungry and wanting food, but I cannot allow him to make his own rules in my house. You don't have to deny the humanity of foreigners to not give them everything that you and your ancestors worked for.

     When I lived in a 3rd world country many didn’t like the US and didn’t like Americans, but nearly all would jump at any chance to come into the US and make more money.

     You can see the guy on the side of road begging for money and see the sad life but when he flips you off when you don’t give him anything, I can know what he is feeling and realize it’s not something you want to foster.

     empathy is about trying to truly understand where somebody else is coming from, but not losing yourself. and not just them, but trying to consider everyone.

     I think that leads to not giving a kid a snack cause you're thinking bigger. and it leads to immigration policies that don't produce a native backlash, but also other policies that consider why they are coming. if other actions can also be taken.
