being overly selfish is the problem. that can show up in an insatiable need for money or attention. probably other stuff too.

but some selfishness is required. and people tend to think they have the right ideas. so compromise is really hard. that's where the conflict begins.

and I focus on money because in our system, it's what allows the interests of a few who have more money to win out over the interests of the many. till it gets bad enough...
