Of course, but my point is that the US could lose its entire expeditionary military and the American populace still wouldn't even look up plans for a guillotine.

Didn't ask how many there are on paper. First of all, only about a third of those is mission capable at any given time. Second, having a plane is not the same as being able to afford to lose it. If you lose them in Iran, what do you do when the Chinese waltz into Taiwan? Armories are pretty depleted already because a bunch of stuff was given to the Ukraine and the Russians have blown it up. Lose some more in Iran and you have no power projection capability left. -

@BroDrillard @anonaccount @deprecated_ii @pepsi_man @gentoobro The political cost of losing a squadron of F35s is far heavier than the material/projection cost. There is no war spirit left in the tank anymore. -

True, but would Americans actually lift a finger to do anything about it? No, they'd just complain on Twitter while watching Netflix and ordering DoorDash.

@BroDrillard @anonaccount Israel can't invade Iran in the first place. it's 1000 miles away with nothing but indian country in between. they don't have the personnel, vehicles, or expertise for such a campaign
the US would also have a very difficult time with Iran -

The US would have a difficult time with Iran...unless.
Unless the Amerifats could set up a FOB in Syria, erm, I mean Greater Israel. The F35 sux, but it can still outperform antique Tomcats.
We don't have to "win" a war with Iran per se, but we can fuck up their infrastructure until they're crippled.

I 'member even back in 2020 some people talked about the connection between banking problems and the conveniently timed "virus". But those noises quieted down over time.
I doubt the "galvanizing public against Iran" part in #2 will work. Too many people are now questioning 9/11. And after the farce of the Jan 6 "insurrection", not even boomercons are buying these psyops. Jews overplayed their hand IMO. -

40% of your paycheck goes to Uncle Sam as it is and you're not exactly up in arms about it. Most people don't even know the percentage. All they care about is "owning" a cardboard house, Netflix and DoorDash. So long as the petty luxuries flow, Americans will watch TV and get fatter in peace.

@gentoobro @BroDrillard @anonaccount @deprecated_ii @pepsi_man The generals are retarded but I'm not sure a bunch of LT. Colonels are willing to be shot down over Iran and meet certain death so I could see a situation develop where after a strike with a lot of losses any sorties would be dialed back so that only low risk and long rang, (therefore low payload) pin-prick strikes will be the only ones flown, drastically cutting their effectiveness. -

Modern AA essentially outranges modern air-launched weapons, with few and very expensive exceptions. There's no low-risk standoff distance.
The LT Colonels will follow orders and fly to their deaths. They have before, and the modern military is more cucked than before.

@gentoobro @BroDrillard @anonaccount @deprecated_ii @pepsi_man But would the generals keep sending sorties out if they lose a chunk of the fleet each time they try to bomb Iran? When has the officer corps in recent history been shown to be willing to shed their blood, (as fighter pilots are all officers)?
The political establishment of the US military is the one who loses credibility in the face of their high-tech toys being turned to scrap. -

This is what actually happened in actual wars. In fact, the US nearly lost a carrier to this sort of shit. High command wanted to keep attacking faster than they could make new ammo and sent some bombs well past their expiration date. They bombs were leaking their stabilizers and many people raised concerns about it, but orders are orders.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1967_USS_Forrestal_fire
According to Lieutenant R. R. "Rocky" Pratt, a naval aviator attached to VA-106,[15] the concern felt by Forrestal's ordnance handlers was striking, with many afraid to even handle the bombs; one officer wondered out loud if they would survive the shock of a catapult-assisted launch without spontaneously detonating, and others suggested they immediately jettison them.
Orders are orders in the end.
