@dotstdy@Doomed_Daniel well exactly. But these add on Qualcomm chips aren’t free and they’re charging a premium for them so I’m very much hoping everyone involved loses money on it, the daft bastards
@dotstdy@Doomed_Daniel that will be the case in the future, but it’s not right now. MS has only supported Qualcomms add-on NPU so far & Intel/AMD are waiting for MS to turn it on for them. Which they won’t until they’ve sold this current batch of premium add-on NPU AI PCs (white elephant)
@Doomed_Daniel yeah they’re just some low power GPU cores basically. Waste of space but let them try to add a nice premium on the machine if they can sell it to some mug
@slembcke I’m so glad I moved to UE, almost 5 years ago now. It wasn’t an easy transition but it’s so much more stable and I get to pay nothing unless we make quite a lot of money
Oh hey, my latest plugin update on Fab took less than 24 hours to go live! They must have cleared the Fab migration backlog, yay this makes everything much better
Oh bloody hell, UE 5.5 released just hours after I submitted an update to Fab. Do I cancel it and resubmit, delaying important fixes for everyone else, or wait an unknown amount of time for the update to go through & submit another while people ask why 5.5 support isn’t up yet 🤔
Well, after a pretty bad October, plugin sales on Fab seem to have recovered, so that's good news. 🥳
Interestingly I've noticed that in the last week or two the Epic Launcher has started installing Fab plugins in a different folder, appending the UE version to the plugin folder, e.g. Engine/Plugins/Marketplace/YourPlugin_5.4. I wonder if this is a precursor to installing engine plugins outside the installed engine folder (e.g. Program Files/Epic Games/UE_5.4)
@Bobbins lack of information permanence is a huge problem, I wish it was on more people’s radars. The trend towards microblogging, chat, video all seems to prioritise the “now” over accreting knowledge over time, so very little of it sticks. It’s like trying to build a library on a conveyor belt where only the last 3 books are easily accessible and everything else has been tossed into a pit which is *technically* still possible to access, but practically not. I miss the forum era so badly
Our two cats sometimes get it into their head that I am doing Really Interesting Things They Must Be A Part Of and almost bowl me over going both up and down the stairs. Usually I’m just going to get my jumper
Every owner of cats who still have a lot of energy has to develop the skill of getting down the stairs safely in proximity to feeding time while carrying things eg cups of coffee.
Hear a distant rumble? A thump of a furry boi jumping down from somewhere?
Freeze and wait for the cat storm to pass before proceeding. Your life may be in danger should you accidentally get in the way of the fluffy tornado
